Please don't take this (crazy long) comment the wrong way XD but just based on your comment I'm amazed how alike we think. Because:

it's like Cas is so bright he's freaking Hell out This is pretty much the same justification I told myself, when I started putting arguably chick-flick lighting effects in a picture set in Hell! :D :D :D Because in my mind, the things Castiel brought with him, hope, and faith ~ still so steadfast after suffering so MUCH (and then re-awakening those things in Dean) ~ could very well set off weird chemical/physical reactions in Hell's atmosphere/magnetic fields/whatever, causing such lights, right? XD

Dean's expression ~ OH MY WORD, THANK YOU for commenting on this. That was probably the smallest area of the picture that I spent the most time on, because yes, I wanted to convey so much for him here - like you said, the vulnerability and the turning-point nature of the moment - and I find it so incredible that you picked up all this, I'm thrilled, THANKS AGAIN!

And about having to DO SOMETHING just to DEAL with tracy's fic ~ EXACTLY. And even this didn't bring about total catharsis. Speaking of which, your fic!!! As I told tracy, her fic made me shriek and that's something I only do for fave characters in things like 4.16!!! T_______T And just reading the title of your fic set off this reaction already; I'll have to build up a little fortitude and maybe get through a little more studying before I read it. (Hopefully this weekend? :D)

I second tracy's "DO IT." :D

YES. It made perfect sense to me :) Because Cas didn't belong there, and yet he was fated to be there. For the same reason, Dean would eventually leave with him. Like they are this fragile thing when they're together, yet they have this awesome, awesome power behind them (fate, God, faith) that not even they understand.

Um, should I just say now that you don't need to apologize for crazy long comments? ;) And I continue...

I was surprised when you said you were most worried about Dean's expression. Because I thought you totally got it. Can I friend you? I don't want to miss your work :)

If it makes you feel any better, I don't think I've achieved total catharsis either when it comes to Tracy's fic or Cas and Dean! And I've been writing wing!porn all day. Ack! It's only getting worse! (Your wings here have been inspirational, BTW) :) I can't believe we have 4 episodes to go and even more to come and I don't know how they are going to keep topping themselves with Cas and yet they totally totally are. I've already hit my shriek quota with this show once or twice over in the last few episodes alone.

Also, I would be honored if you made my story your studying reward, sweet <3

*___* Ok, now I'm even more afraid to read your fic. HOWEVER! I WILL read it! :D (So glad the weekend is near!)

And OH! *starry starry eyes* totally friending you! Actually I thought of this when I started replying but there was too much awesomeness for my brain to handle all at once.

Again, I feel the same ~ about not knowing how it's possible they'll keep upping the ante on the show, but somehow they just do. (I thought I just couldn't BE any more impressed with Mischa Collins, and then in 4.16 he blew me away exponentially more than in any previous episode. And the episode even did things I thought I wouldn't like, in ways that made me like them, SO MUCH! They are evil masterminds or something.)

#($&@?! my pictures are a factor in your current fic-writing??? I'm amazed and honored by this! @___@ Thanks so much for making a newcomer feel so welcome, yes I'm positively basking, thank you very much! ♥♥♥

Yay, fwends! <3 <3 <3

The way your feathers (I mean the feathers you draw... you know what I mean!) can be well-defined or fuzzy/soft, is really helpful, yes. I often use my cat for inspiration when describing Castiel's movements, and I know others think of birds. It's funny, because cats and birds and such enemies. But I like the properties of cat fur more than feathers, not least because feathers are oily and aren't supposed to get soaked ;) Cats look so pathetic when they're wet, too. So your feathers, though clearly feathers and feather-like, make me think that I can be more flexible with angel feathers. Mostly because I want to be :)

4.16 was all kinds of amazing, yes. I think I was actually scared to watch that episode when it aired (kind of like I'm scared to watch 4.20 now -- I love Jeremy Carver; Mystery Spot took my heart and never gave it back -- because *Cas!angst!* holy crap). Too much amazing. (I am also a Alastair/Dean fan too, are you?) I know now not to keep valuable objects nearby during Cas episodes, in the fears they will be thrown across the room without a conscious thought. When I was at the LA con and Misha entered the room, I grabbed onto my friend standing next to me and *squee-d*. Sadly, she tells me I'm audible on her videotape ;) Embarrassing...

Well, that was a long way of saying that I'm happy to be here too :)

Birds? Castiel? :D Sorry but the first thing that comes to my mind is the smaller birds, the ones whose heads snap around so very quickly. Ok ok, I'm thinking of bigger birds now, hunter birds, gliding on outstretched wings, or swooping. Castiel, swooping awesomely. YES. Now in a very good mental place. XD

Oh oh! I don't know how he did it but Mischa Collins actually did something that made me think HEY that's like he HAS WINGS! ~ in 4.16 when he turns back to face Sam in the hospital hallway ~ it's kind of a wheeling motion, ohmygoodness, have any other fans mentioned this?!! I would suspect I'm over-reading the moment but I was focusing so much on the Sam-Castiel interaction; I only thought of this way later... :D

I still haven't seen 4.18, partly because yes, 4.16 wrung my heart out so many times over and now ironically I can't quite bring myself to watch the show nearly as easily; I KNOW I'll be a mess with serious episodes. Don't even know if 4.18 is particularly serious. OH! I loved Mystery Spot too! Liked the Trickster LOTS. And, funny moments that become aching because of the context; heartaching parts scattered with banter; O_O I couldn't ask for more. And Sam, OH SAM SAM SAM!!!

Alastair/Dean - I haven't actively gone after this in particular (SO MUCH to catch up on, everywhere!!!) but I think it's pretty much canon isn't it? 8D I am definitely not anti-this-idea :D because I think within the context of the show it makes sense! (Unlike ~ and I'll just come out and say it it's only my 2 cents! ~ Anna with Dean. :/ I know lots of people like her and I understand that the writers intended her to have a certain function, voice of reason/mercy/etc... I'm not anti-female-characters! I like pretty much all the other characters. But her presentation just hasn't worked for me so far...if you think differently on this I'd love for you to persuade me otherwise :D) HOWEVer enough about that. There's going to be a whole EP of Castiel ANGST?!!!! I thought... T____T I thought 4.16 WAS THAT EP already! (Though he bore up admirably well by the end, I thought! \o/) I wonder how many times I'll have to take a break from THAT hour of show!

I don't know, I like sparrows and robins and bluejays :) I tried to avoid the bird metaphors as best I could... and then I started reading slash fic, and wing!sex. Sigh!

If it makes you feel any better, at the LA con, a fan asked Misha if Castiel's coat had anything in it to make it act like wings, and I found myself thinking "yeah!"... but alas, no luck. He says it's just a regular coat :) He looked kind of weirded out too. But still, we're not the only ones! Mystery Spot was a thing of genius. A fan on the TVGuide blog likes to speculate that Trickster is behind everything, and I tend to agree. Trickster=God=Kripke=irony on this show :)

I'm sorry I might have accidentally spoiled you! I forgot to ask where you were at with episodes. Um, 4.18 might be multiple-breaks-worthy, YES ! That episode did me in. I mean, regularly 4.16 would have broken my brain forever, but then we got 4.17, which was pretty awesome, and THEN 4.18. 4.18 was just one of the coolest things I've ever seen. And CAS! And 4.19 looks better all the time (and is freaking me out per my friend's spec this morning) and 4.20 is going to be the ep that breaks all Castiel fans into itty bitty pieces. SO I AM TOTALLY GOING TO SHUT UP NOW. I'm actually pretty spoiler-free for what happens, with just some old spoilers in my head that may or may not be true. But I still tend to do things like this. Whoops!

I can see that you are totally trying to catch up, so I encourage you in that endeavor!

(P.S. I don't like Anna that much either, but I want to like her. I don't have problems with female characters either, but most of the female regulars on this show get jerked around alot -- is Anna honest, lying? Why did she fall? What is her history with Cas? I don't want to get attached to a character as one thing and have them change it next week. I still miss Alastair :( Jensen/Dean has such amazing chemistry with other male actors/characters, I want them to pile on the dramatic guy angst like crazy. Ok, now I'll really shut up!)

I can see the bird metaphors now. :) Oddly sparrows and robins and bluejays seem very appropriate for Castiel. Innocent watchful little birds? XD bah, I don't know what I'm talking about.

The Trickster is like God, yes! Ultimate deux-ex-machina character. And it would make sense for God to be an irony-loving prank-playing... trickster :) in this show.

No no, you didn't spoil me. (Now I understand your fic better but it didn't spoil anything!) Anyway I spoiled myself silly for 4.16 even though that was the first one I actively tried not to be spoiled for, which ended up not mattering so much anyway, because I had to take so many breaks. :P So now yes I'm extremely invested. I had to stop 4.18 before it even got to any angsty parts - when the looping meta-ish nature of it got too much to handle; (Dean said it all made his head hurt and I thought ME TOO DEAN ME TOO!) then I was LOLing at Dean actually ordering tofu burger without being angel-brainwashed, yelling at Dean not to go anywhere near the Impala (seriously he needs to PARK it so he goes and drives it?!), wibbling over Sam's talk with Chuck, and so much more, then OMG Castiel-Dean scene AUGHHHHH!

I've seen short blurbs on a generic episode summary site - I think it's imdb. So, the Winchesters have a maybe-brother??? @_@ And Castiel is "gone" at the start of 4.20 and the vessel doesn't remember being an angel. I "know" that much. :)

I...wanted to like Anna too. I think I have more of a problem with how others reacted to her than the character herself... her character development strikes me as MarySue-ish. Even Jensen Ackles' spot-on delivery (you're SO RIGHT about his chemistry) couldn't sell that moment in 4.10 for me (when he looks at her all sad and regretful/admiring...) She's the only female character, or indeed any character, that I've responded to this way ~ I like Ruby and Bela pretty well, and really like Tessa and Ellen, also Jo, just to name a few! I guess, like you I'm not sure what she's supposed to be; her function so far seems to be the "right"/"moral" voice and the other characters behaved this way, at least in 4.10, but her actions and dialogue don't match up...

Ok now I'm like that complaining fan Dean mentioned; back to the positive, I MUCH PREFER DRAMATIC GUY ANGST ANYWAY!!! ♥♥♥ :D For me that's one of SPN's distinguishing characteristics, haha! Yes, it's too bad they killed off Alastair ~ what a deliciously twisted, impression-making character! With very fun lines too! :D

(ooh, I saw the post for your fic and it sounds really really good but I haven't had time to read it yet. But I will! And I'll get back to you soon. Promise!)

So are you caught up with SPN episodes yet? 4.19 was good, but I think you'll find it easier to get through than 4.16 and 4.18. Still, this season is going to kill me yet. I read the blurb for 4.21 today, but that's as far as I've gotten.

So that Dean/Cas scene at the soda machine, huh? Pretty awesome! That's why I couldn't believe you hadn't seen it yet! Cas!!!! And Dean!!!! (Hmm, I think that's as coherent as I can be about them at this point.) ;)

It's funny, but I'd heard some spoilers about angels awhile back, and now I don't know which angel those spoilers are for. I'm hoping it's for Cas and not Anna *is hoping*

DRAMATIC GUY ANGST FTW! Especially with Jensen playing one of the characters. Or, as in Dream a Little Dream of Me, both! *swoon* Demon!Dean is the hotness. I've been spoiled by all of the icons for kitsu84's ficmix. She says there is a vid for Tracy's story forthcoming. Between all of us, that's a ton :)

I miss Alastair too. I know some fans who don't care about slash at all, and they think that Alastair/Dean is canon on the show. That's a dream come true for me. I'd still like to go back and write some Alastair/Dean; maybe during the summer hiatus, or maybe for my May fic challenge. Maybe your fic will inspire me :)

(Maybe I should wait until I've read the story, but I'm curious about what you think of beta readers. I haven't had luck in the past, but it's been awhile. I think my writing needs help, but I don't know if I trust an unknown beta reader. Were you happy with your experience?)

Re: beta readers - I put in a request at the spn_beta community because this was the first SPN fic I was attempting and I really wanted the characterization to be at least believable, especially since my diction isn't like Sam or Dean's. (Nerdy/pseudo-scientific diction right here!) ^___^

I guess it depends what you're looking for exactly. If you use the comm, you can mention specific concerns or requests (grammar/characterization/response timeframes). I was pretty happy, the people who responded were all encouraging and had good suggestions. However I'm rather independent (aka stubborn/controlling *can't help it!*) about my scribblings and the fic changed substantially after the betas responded... for example at the end of Castiel's section I integrated some things 2 days before posting and was so much happier with the result. Ultimately, you're still the one who decides how the final product turns out. :D

Huh, does that even answer your question? Let me know if you have specific concerns XD

* * * * *
As for my fic...it's very rambly. Dean isn't even awake in it, poor Dean! There's only some mental angst and just a bit of blood - canon blood at that, it was in the episode! I didn't take it very far since I was already worried about delivering believable characterization - a very basic thing, no? (But we all have to start somewhere right?!) My point is, it probably doesn't ping many buttons, you don't have to read it :) ... But if you do that'll make my day, as always feedback is SO VERY WELCOME! :D :D :D

I hope with you that the spoilers are for Castiel not Anna, though I've no idea what they are! XD And yes, Demon!Dean is ~mmmmm~. :D Actually I like when any of them go a little dark, including threatening!Castiel~~~

I'm caught up with episodes! However I don't see them until the following Monday or whenever they post to the cw site. SO, the much-feared 4.20 won't hit me until next week. (I mean, just the preview with Sam saying "angel-on-angel violence" and ... Castiel...just lying there!!! and Dean going to him "Cas? Cas!" OMG I'm shrieking too much already, and that was the first, what, 5 seconds of the preview?! 4.20 might just break me more times than 4.16 ~ I wouldn't have thought it possible!)

I'm surprised no character count limit is cutting me off yet!

You like threatening!Castiel, huh? Have you seen 4.20 yet? :) And have you survived it?

I think I might try betas again after this month. I don't have enough time to get my daily May fics betaed at this point, and I'm still working my way up to the idea. That's a good idea about asking for help with specific things.

Happy Thursday!
