Just read this chapter a fourth time. It's GREAT! Love the descriptions of how Alexander feels - so ill in the beginning, as well as slightly better at the end (when he immediately wants to take "charge"). What a comfort it is for him to know, even in his addled state that Hephaistion is nearby. How quietly competent Hephaistion is, without ONCE putting himself forward, a solid tower of strength, yet never ambitious where Alexander is concerned. A really perfect gleaning of the guy's character from what we can read in between the lines in the sources. Hurry and write more!

It was rather WAFF-y now I think about it! I'm relieved it came across as "good" WAFF. Speaking of which, your comments on all this, (including the exchange between Hephaestion and good ol' Craterus, heh) but especially Alexander- and Hephaestion-characterization, have been like WAFF gold for me. (Or better yet, golden WAFF, so it could be GWAFF?) Seriously - my wholehearted thanks!

There is nothing whatsoever wrong with WAFF - in small, judicious doses it can be GWAFy! ^_^ It's sap that we should zealously guard against - and there is no danger of that here, as far as I can see! Deadlines continue to bug, but message is being beamed to you right now!

Just read this. I like it :) I find your stories always so different from others, you have a very original view on Alexander and Hephaestion's relationship and a very personal style. Always funny and cute, but also with many historical nuances. I hope to read more from you soon :)

I'm glad you like it! Especially the funny parts...AtG is so naturally a "serious," "epic" topic; I would completely understand if my attempt to include some humor (in the midst of serious illnesses and fears of torture if one fails to heal the king, etc.) jars others. But I really hope to mix humor and serious moments in a good way!

Also, with so much AtG fiction out there already, it's very nice to get comments like "original." ^___^ Thank you very much!
