Elegy (Alexander the Great fan-poem)

Summary: Hephaestion was always a practical sort. His last request helps Alexander break free from the very darkest depths of loss, if only a little. In three semi-Shakespearean sonnets. Inspired by the quote below, used in a fanvideo centering on the two of them:

Masterful, tender and beautiful!

I love how Alexander realizes all of his dreams of glory are nothing if there is no Hephaistion to share them with. Ane also, for the pursuit of his dreams of glory, Hephaistion had to pay a high price that only with death could he escape the jealousies of his peers. (And perhaps not even then, judging by how many modern historians express the same sentiment centuries after he died!)

Wow, you actually came here to read the background! *in danger of blubbering* Thank you for your wonderful reviews and encouragement! I especially was glad to know which lines worked best for you, as there are only 1 or 2 lines I'm arrogant enough to think might really, naturally sound poetic.

Yeah, those darn detractors of his! >:) I fully intend to do my poor part to right that wrong, no matter how little the "real" Hephaestion cared about it. (Sigh) It's only fanfiction I can do, though. ^____^
