I'll have to do more about cleaning thoroughly. There was dust underneath the base and a very dead carpet beetle. I suppose Buddy killed it - but surely it hasn't been under there since he was here. I can't have forgotten to vacuum underneath for that long. Perhaps it was killed by a spider or something. I must remember to spray for insects. There's an odd, stuffy, musty scent. I suppose I stirred up the dust but I should get some air freshener.
I think I'll go down to Crawford Street now and see if there's anything useful at the old mansion. The fresh air will do me good, and I can drop in at the corner shop and get the sprays on the way. I'd better hurry, it's getting quite late.
