So it's been established:
Elizabeth doesn't sleep at night.
She especially doesn't sleep at night in her crib.
On the rare occasion that she DOES sleep, it's on a big papasan cushion on the floor by our bed. We've surrounded it w/big pillows, etc, but have yet to enclose it. Big mistake.
Ms. Mobility managed to wake up last night (sometime around 11pm) and rather than fuss and cry until I woke up, she decided to crawl out of the room.....and made an immediate left into David's music room. Where she promptly knocked over a pile of cds. Pulled out a few books from a stack on the floor. Pulled a few more cds out of a shelf. And knocked over a desk lamp. At which point I finally woke up.
I've never thought about blocking the bedroom door because...well...I just hadn't. I'm a light sleeper where Elizabeth's concerned, and I usually wake at the first sign of her stirring around. Not so last night, I guess.
We've been given a toddler bed by one of David's work-friends...and I hadn't expected to use it anytime soon. If I can figure out a safe way to keep her in it, I'll try that. The crib is in the garage, and given her poor reaction to it the last several times I tried to put her in it to sleep, that's where it will stay. Sometimes, if we're lucky (really, really lucky) she'll sleep in her play yard, but that's too hit and miss. I'm nearly tempted to clear out her room entirely, put up a baby gate and throw a few pillows and toys on the floor and let her roll and crawl around in there at night til her little heart's content. Or maybe I should just work on making her new bed safe....
