Sleeping  Beauty 2/?

Chloe looked at her surroundings. Her curiosity was completely peaked- whoever
Connor and his father were; they were loaded. Like, Luthor loaded.

When Oliver requested that she stay in the guest room, she obliged. Initially,
it was only because she was too tongue-tied to say anything. And then she saw
Connor looking at her sadly as his father guided him out of the room. Seeing him
like that made her heart almost break.

She wasn’t a big fan of kids, and they weren’t big fans of her
either, which was why she never even considered babysitting to
earn some money. But there was something about that boy that
drew her in.

With a sigh, she got up from the chair and looked
around. The paintings that hung on the wall looked expensive
and the bed felt like no bed she had been on before. She
opened the closet and felt the bathrobe that was hanging before
nudging the pair of sleepers on the bottom.

The guest room was more of a hotel- she was pretty sure that it was
bigger than her room and her dad’s combined. Her eyes widened when she
saw a folded copy of the Daily Planet on the floor of the closet. She
picked it up, and felt her jaw drop as she looked at the date.

“2019? No Way!” She exclaimed. Her heart thundered as she saw Clark’s name.
So, he ended up writing more than just the cafeteria lunch menu after all.

She grinned as she flipped through the pages, looking for her own name. Chloe
tried not to jump in excitement when she realized where she was. She always knew
that Smallville was strange. But a trip to the future was way weird even for
those standards.

A soft knock interrupted her. She quickly dropped the paper back on the floor
and shut the closet.

“Chloe?” Oliver called out before he opened the door.

“How are you?”

“I’m okay”, Chloe replied as she tried not maintain a calm facade.

“I’m sorry for what happened earlier; I’ll make sure you
return home safely.”

“You don’t seem so surprised.”

“Excuse me?” Oliver asked as he looked in wonder at the young woman, short blond
hair that flipped everywhere and clothes that were so remarkably her.

“Other people would’ve freaked out; it’s not every day someone just pops out of nowhere.”

“Well, I’ve had my fair share of surprises.”

“Like what?” Chloe asked as she tried to find a way to ask him about their location.

He grinned. Even at a young age, she wore that same expression when she was trying to
subtly ask for something.

Chloe blushed as she tried to keep focused. “I’d like to hear about them. I have a wall
full of strange and surprising stuff. Maybe I can add them in.”

Oliver nodded his head. He’d seen the virtual wall that Chloe set up all those years
ago. “I know it’s hard for you to not know anything at the moment, but you have my
word when I say that you’ll be home soon.”

Chloe was born suspicious, but she knew she could trust the man in front of her.

“It’s okay. I’m used to being on my own; I can probably make my own way back.”

“I’m sure you can.” Oliver replied. “But coming from Smallville,
you know that things are never as simple as they appear to be.”

A small beep interrupted Oliver and he fished the phone out
of his pocket and took the call after apologizing to Chloe
for leaving her in the room.

Chloe crept carefully towards the door and listened as Oliver’s voice grew fainter.
A part of her wanted to stay and wait for Oliver to help her return home, but her
curiosity won out in the end.

She bit her lip as she opened the door and looked to see if the coast was clear. Seeing
no one was around, Chloe stepped out of the room and looked around her.

The place was huge! She walked further until she reached what she assumed was the living room.
The first thing she noticed were the enormous paintings that adorned the walls, similarly to the
guest rooms. The large chandelier sparkled through the sun’s rays. As she looked around the room,
she couldn’t help but compare Oliver’s place to Lex’s.

Everything she saw made her feel like she was welcomed, there was such a feeling of warmth
that was never around the Luthor mansion. Her eyes caught something interesting, and she
walked towards the end of the living room. There was a grandfather clock on the corner,
and it looked so out of place with the other furnishings in the room. As she walked closer,
she saw a small silver pane hidden behind the clock.

“What are you trying to hide?” Chloe whispered as she nudged the clock forward to get a closer
look. There were a few letters of the alphabet and some strange symbols. She lightly
touched them as she tried to think if it was similar to ancient Greek or Egyptian symbols.
It was nothing like she’d seen before. “Wow, I really am in the future.”

She carefully placed the clock back again and her gaze caught a familiar building from the
window. She would know that globe anywhere. She looked around again, and when she saw the elevator,
she didn’t hesitate in making her way out of there.

The moment she walked outside, she could only focus on the globe of the Daily Planet.
She could feel her heart thump in anticipation as she made her way to the building she
knew she was calling home.

It didn’t take her too long to reach the building and her heart thumped in anticipation
as she walked through the doors of the Daily Planet. There were people going in and
out the revolving doors and she bit her lip as she tried to think if she should do what
she was about to do.

She’s watched too many movies to know that your future self shouldn’t see your past self,
because it could change the future. But she knew that the Chloe in this future will
appreciate seeing her, and that maybe, she may even have some tips on how to win the Pulitzer
earlier. With a determined stride, she walked over to where the guard was and cleared her throat.

“Yes?”

“I need to speak with Chloe Sullivan.”

The guard tilted his head as he looked at the screen in front of him.

“Sorry, kid. No Chloe Sullivan here.”

Chloe was taken aback by the answer, as she looked at
the guard. “Are you sure? Chloe Sullivan? S-U-L-L-I-V-A-N.”

The guard blinked at the blond in front of him as he
tried again. “Kid, I’m telling you, there’s no Chloe Sullivan here.”

“That’s not possible!” Chloe argued. There was no way
that she wasn’t working for the Daily Planet. “Ask Clark Kent, Is he here?”

“You know Mr. Kent, who are you anyway?”

“A friend...”

“Listen kid, Mr. Kent’s got enough on his hands without
your little crush!”

Before Chloe could retort a reply, her cheeks red she
heard a familiar voice call out behind her.

“Hey, Jimmy, make sure you get your lunch before you
come back up, alright?”

“Sure thing CK!”

Chloe watched as a lanky red head ran outside and her
eyes couldn’t believe when she saw Clark Kent right in
front of her.

“Clark!” Chloe cried out before she could stop herself
and ran straight to her best friend.

Clark looked absolutely stunned as a young blond girl
practically hurled herself at him.

When she looked up at him, Clark felt his heart stop. “Chloe?”

“You recognize me! Oh my god, Clark. You will never believe
what happened, I was in the Old Thompson barn trying to see
if there some sort of drug fueled jock party, then the next,
I’m in this place with Connor...”

Clark looked at Chloe and used his x-ray vision, but
the Chloe standing before him was human, with no signs
of implants that Lex had used on all the clones he created.

“Wait... Connor?”

“Yeah, I wasn’t listening- I mean I couldn’t really
concentrate.” Chloe babbled as she omitted that her
lack of attention was because of a tall handsome blond
that Connor called Dad. “But apparently my being here
was because of a disk from a guy named John, and his
father wasn’t really happy...”

“You met Oliver? He saw you?” Clark asked sharply and
Chloe could only nod her head. She’d never seen Clark
with that expression before. “He let you out of the penthouse?”

“No.” Chloe replied softly. “He kind of doesn’t know
I left. Hey, how do you know who they are?”

“I’ve interviewed Oliver before,” Clark replied. The lie
came out of his lips smoothly as he tried to find a way to
get Chloe away from the Planet before Lois came down and saw her.
“What are you doing here? You shouldn’t have left the penthouse!”

“I’m sorry, I mean, I find out that I somehow got transported to the future,
what was I supposed to do? Stay still?”

Clark opened his mouth, but closed it again. He wouldn’t have expected anything
less from her.

“Look, we need to get you back to the penthouse, it’s safer for you.”

“Okay, but can’t I just take a quick peek up where we work?”

Her question caught Clark off guard, until he realized what
she meant. “You know you’re not supposed to see yourself
in the future right?” Clark asked instead as he maneuvered
them both out. He could already hear Lois on her way down.
Even when she was supposed to be on leave, she couldn’t stay
away from the Planet.

“What harm could it do? I mean, I know I wouldn’t mind if
my past self suddenly popped up, besides, what could happen?
I know I’ll end up working for the Daily Planet, where else
would I be?”

“I can’t answer that.” Clark just replied and Chloe just
grinned at him. It was so surreal to see his friend at
such a young age right in front of him. It had been almost
a year since Chloe had spoken to anyone. He could already
hear Oliver in panic mode, and his heart broke when he
heard Connor’s soft sobs.

“So, how do you know Oliver? What is it with you and
billionaires?”

“What makes you think he’s a billionaire?” Clark asked
back as Chloe’s question brought him out of his thoughts.

“Are you kidding? A penthouse in the middle of Metropolis?
Not just a penthouse, it looked like he owned the entire
building. Talk about paranoid though, it looks like he’s
got his own version of level 3, and I feel completely
disadvantaged. I had no clue how to break in, talk about being
completely out of my league...”

“You tried to what?” Clark hissed and Chloe rolled her
eyes at Clark.

“Okay, I’m beginning to think that not only did I travel
to the future, I must be in some alternate dimension
because you clearly do not seem to know me.”

“Chloe, look at me.”

She looked at Clark and tried not to blush as she
looked at him. Even the glasses couldn’t hide how
good he looked. She could see her young friend in
the man that was standing in front of her, but there
was something else about this older Clark that was
different.

“Promise me that you won’t snoop. I know that you think
this is the perfect opportunity for you to find something
to write for the Torch or to the Daily Planet when you get
back, but there are things that you don’t need to know.
You trust me, right?”

Chloe just nodded, and her heart fluttered when Clark
smiled as he gently held her face.

“You don’t need to know your future, Chloe- what you’ll
achieve, you wouldn’t even have dreamed of. But you
need to trust me, okay?”

“Okay.” Chloe nodded shyly and Clark nodded his head
as they walked back to Oliver’s Penthouse.

“So, I’m guessing we work together, huh? Is Pete
playing for the Metropolis Lions?”

“Chloe...” the warning tone from Clark would’ve been
effective, had it not been for the small smile that
he tried to hide.

Chloe tried to look discreetly at Clark’s hands and
noticed a simple gold band on his wedding finger and
Chloe turned red as she looked away. Did he and Lana
finally tie the knot? Or did Clark finally saw who
she was. Maybe that’s why he didn’t want her to see
her future self.

“Are you alright?”

“Huh?” Chloe asked as she looked up at him. She was
sure Clark would be pleased to know that he’d grown
even taller.

“You’re quiet all of a sudden. It’s never a good
sign when you’re quiet.”

“Haha!” Chloe retorted as the two friends continued
to walk.

As much as he knew they needed to send Chloe back as
soon as possible, he was enjoying this, being with her,
but at the same time, she was a physical reminder of his
failure. If he’d only listened to her, to Oliver, and the
rest of the league, she would be safe with her husband and
her son, and not lying in a coma just like her mother was.

Back at the Daily Planet, Lois Lane-Kent looked in annoyance
at her phone as Clark refused to take her calls. She knew
he could be busy fighting crime, but he promised that he’ll
send her a text, or some sort of sign so she knew.

“Mrs. Lane-Kent! Are you looking for Mr. Kent?”

“Yeah, did you see him?”

“Took off with some blond...”

“Excuse me?” Lois asked her voice as cold as ice when
Alfred’s partner elbowed him.

“That’s not what he meant.” Lou replied. “Some little girl,
she was looking for a Chloe Sullivan, Mr. Kent was probably just helping her out.”

“What did you say?” Lois asked, unable to believe what she
just heard.

“This little blond girl, she was asking if there was a
Chloe Sullivan who worked in this building. Is she new?
Cause we’ve never heard of her before.”

Lois tuned the guards out as she looked at the security
camera aimed at where the guard desks were.

If this girl really was Chloe, she needed to see for herself.
And if the girl was really Chloe, she was going to shove green
K at Clark for trying to hide this from her.
