Eat any good books lately?
Just finished The God of Small Things. More once I've had some sleep.
Initial can't-sleep-until-I've-said-something thoughts... I want to compare Ammu to Edna Pontillier from The Awakening but I'd feel like I was committing some kind of whitegirl treason against Ammu. Whitegirl is a lens I cannot remove and it would be stupid for me to think I could cast it off as I think about this book.
Reminds me of... Narayan writing about "Third World Feminism" with her condescending quotations marks around everything. How Westerners interpret "Third Worlders" with the same condescending quotation marks Narayan, herself, uses....
