The Causeway, Thursday Night

Joxer started out onto the causeway, desperately not wanting to look back. He hoped that somehow he'd make it home. He had no idea how this all worked.

The figure standing in the shadows, well, he didn't notice that until he stepped out and said something.

"There you are," the burly side-burned man said.

"Who, me?" Joxer said. "You're not, like," he gulped, "Pete's dad, are you?"

"Pete who?" Ares said. "No, kid, I'm Ares. God of War. The god responsible for sending you here."

[joxertehmighty]

"I knew it was you! And you do have weird sideburns!" Joxer said.

[joxertehmighty]

Ares reached up to his face with a hand. "Look, I'm here to take you home, okay? I'm not some other-worldly rickshaw driver you can abuse."

"What, why are you here to take me home?" Joxer asked.

[joxertehmighty]

Ares rolled his eyes. "Your dad said send you away until you proved yourself to not be useless. And believe me, I thought you were a lost cause for a long time."

"Heeeeeey."

[joxertehmighty]

"But then, hey, wham! You shoot that ugly kid in the head like a true warlord," Ares said. "I didn't think you had it in you."

"So you're taking me home?"

[joxertehmighty]

"Hey kid, you got a great future ahead of you," Ares said. "And your mom misses you."

[joxertehmighty]

Joxer thought for a second.

"I'll only go on one condition."

[joxertehmighty]

"You're making conditions with me? I'm Ares, remember?"

[joxertehmighty]

"You have to sing the song with me."

[joxertehmighty]

"...You're kidding."

[joxertehmighty]

"Sing it with me, and we'll go."
