Time filler

I was really intrigued by the "Personal Soundtrack" survey that has been bouncing around LiveJournal lately. I'm definitely one of those people who can associate a particular trip/incident/significant moment in my life with a certain song. There are also certain songs that I associate with particular people in my life. So I've been pondering my own personal playlist for the last few days. I can't come up with anything concrete. All I know is that the whole thing would basically be a huge "Big Chill" cliche because all I really listen to is old people/dead people music. Not that it's really important anyway, I'm just doing this to wind down the clock. Oh yeah, and I'm a little OCD about my music, so this may be super scarily detailed. Sorry.

Theme song: Little Wing -- By Jimi Hendrix.
It's important to get the version right on this one. He was a big fan of the illegal substances and was often totally ripped when performing so none of the recordings are the same. In fact, there's only one live recording wherein he actually got all the notes and the words correct and in the right order. So I'll take the version off the vinyl Hendrix in the West--which you can't get on CD here in the U.S.

Leaving on a plane for some long trip or new job or just because I really need to move to Europe and am consequently abandonning a relationship/perfect guy/love of my life: D'yer Mak'er -- By Led Zeppelin
This could also work for some sort of sex scene wherein I'm having a "one last night together" with the perfect guy/love of my life who I can no longer be with because I'm leaving or maybe just because he has some horrible bittersweet flaw like an illegitimate child with my best friend or sister or maybe it's one of those tragic heroe things and he's perfect except that he has cancer, or maybe I have the flaw and I just can't commit. At any rate, I love this song. It was introduced to me while I was in a car with no air conditioning flying down the freeway at 90 miles an hour in Little Rock, Arkansas as "The Sex Song" because there's quite a bit of moany-groany vocals toward the end.

Mourning: Here Comes the Sun -- The Beatles
George Harrison sings this, and he has a very shyboy sweet voice that is very sad and hopeful all at the same time. My father played this song for me after my Grandmother died and told me that it was the one song that could make him feel actual tears. I take great care and reserve with this song. It is not a frequent player because of it's significance to me.

Okay, that's good for now. I'll definitely be coming back to this later.
