Lab rat

The psychology department called me three times today. Last Wednesday we had to complete a survey regarding traumatic life experiences. It was incredibly depressing--I could check off a good two thirds of the options provided. Obviously it's not a surprise then that the Psych. Dept. wants to haul me into the lab to ask me some more questions. The girl on the phone was really nice to me and wanted to know all about what happened when I was attacked downtown. Not that I really thought she cared, of course I knew that she was asking because it's her job. But whatever. I guess this is going to be like free counseling. Plus I get extra credit for it, so that's nice. But part of me is a little nervous that they're going to ask me all these leading questions in regard to my multiple traumatic experiences that will force me to relive/uncover painful memories and I will be more deeply scarred because of this stupid experiment than I had been before. Am I a little paranoid? Probably. Does this sort of ridiculous worry on my part indicate that I have not made peace with my past? I believe the answer to that is a definitive yes. What if they want to lock me up? Or medicate me? What if they put me in a room so small that it would make a claustrophobic's head implode and they have the entire Psych. Department watching me through two-way mirrors . . . what then? Maybe I should start writing down some jokes--you know, if I'm going to have that kind of an audience, I don't want to disappoint.

There is good news. Kerry and I went house-hunting this weekend and we found a whole bunch of possibilities. There's an open house for one of the really cute houses tomorrow night, but we can't go because we're going to the Mariner's game. Which reminds me:

To all of you A-Rod fans out there, I'm sorry that you missed the home game series against Texas. Here's what happened. We lost the first game. Alex did very well. We won the second game by a disgusting amount because Texas kept fucking up the plays. And our hitting was actually good. Cirillo, who usually earns my scorn for being totally worthless at the plate, went 4-4 or maybe even 5-5. Oh, and Cararra hit Alex with a pitch in the elbow and Alex did a not-so-graceful backwards summersault. It was an amazing game. Truly. The third game was equally as exciting, although in a very different way. The game was tied 3-3 until the 13th inning, having been a scoreless game since the fifth or sixth inning. Then Boone hit a homerun with two outs and nobody on base to win the game. Alex hit a homerun as well, his just didn't help as much as it needed to.

Today was a gorgeous day, and I have declared the arrival of summer. This means that I have dusted off my skimpy summer clothes and will be wearing them in hopes of enticing warm, sunny weather. Let's hope it works, otherwise I'm going to look like a total idiot running around UW campus in a itsy-bitsy tank top while it blows hard and rains like crazy.

I miss all of you guys and I can't wait for everyone to come home.
