So far this last week has been intriguing. With such events as a huge schedule change at work, the Rock Against Bush concert, and moving. Tomorrow we pack our things and head to Meridian West. Goodbye Willow Hills, and good riddance. I will not miss the tacky 70's uppholstry, nor will I miss our fat upstairs neighbors. As a matter of fact, there isn't much about this place I will miss at all. If anything. Rei and Zach are coming over to help us move today. Its going to be weird having Thursday off, when I just had Monday and Tuesday off. At least it gives me time to help move. I was afraid that Hannah was going to end up doing it herself, and I felt really bad about that.
As for the Rock Against Bush tour. The bands were; The Epoxies, Strike Anywhere, Midtown, and of course Anti-Flag. The Epoxies I had seen one other time in Portland. The lead singer is the most effeminate man I've ever encountered in my life. The band was great though, very high energy. Its nice to see some old skool punk with a new flare. Strike Anywhere was AWESOME. I wanted to see them last time they were in town, but I was working so it didn't work out that way. They had the crowd in full swing. In my opinion they should've been the band playing before Anti-Flag. Midtown was the only let down of the show. Although their music was nice on the ears, they really weren't a concert band. Some bands that sound great on a CD in your car just weren't meant to be live. Of course Anti-Flag made a show of it. Justin did his usual preaching "We are all brothers and sisters in this world and together we can take back what is rightfully ours...blah blah blah etc." Its nice to listen to him talk but for gods sake just play the fucking songs. ["PLAY THE FUCKING SONG!", "Um... we can see you."] Also as a special guest they had Jim McDerrmott, a Democrat who is making leaps and bounds for all liberal kind. He is truly a great man, and an entertaining speaker, if I do say so myself. As always their last song was "Die For Your Government." However I wasn't in the mosh pit at this point. I was standing in the bar talking to the lead singer of Strike Anywhere.
Other than the concert the rest of the day proved entertaining. We made a brief stop at Uwajimaya or as Zach's grandmother calls it 'Oojiwama'. Rei bought the 5th Confidential Confessions, and we all got some food. I went to Shilla and got some Korean BBQ [melts]. The ride to the Shobox was fun and interesting. Some of the choice phrases escaping Christina's mouth were, "GET THE FUCK OUT OF THE WAY!" [as said to a Cabrio waiting to turn right.], "I CAN'T FUCKING PARK!" [as screamed out the window of the car as she attempted to parallel park in front of the Shobox] and lets not forget my personal favorite "THE Z IS FOR SHUT THE FUCK UP!" [as said to Zach when we were trying to figure out what the Z is for.].
Tomarrow I start my new swing shifts at work, which I'm not happy about. At least its 5PM-2AM, thats not that bad. I will, however, miss my graveyard shifts. Here's hoping it works out. If it doesn't I'm looking for a new job this week. There is a new T-mobile store opening next to Borders, perhaps I will seek employment there.
