Hell Virus

So i wound up in the hospital last night. I was dehydrated from vomiting and with a horrible migrane that wasn't going away. I used afrin (i know, it's terribly addicting- i've had this problem before) to clear my nasal pasages which where completely closed up, and once i was being treated, it began to wear off and i started having a panic attack, hyperventilating..my whole body going numb. The sensation of taking a small inhalation and not getting ANY air through my nose freaks me out so much. I feel like i can't breath at all.

A monster flu, basically.

Can i just say...hospitals have a really fucked up system. Maybe i'm naive, and it's the only way it can be done... but it'sso messed up.

The nurse had me in a room in about an hour after arriving, lightheaded, and in pain. I've fainted before, and i was getting that feeling like i was on the verge of fainting again. Once in the room, i had to wait another 2 hours before a doctor saw me. I understand, heart attacks and such come first... but i would see doctors walking back and forth slowly in the hallway from my room, occasionally peering into my room...seeing i was in agony and walk away.

"Two more patients before you. The doctor has to see you before we do anything for the pain.."

Eventually, before the doctor even saw me, the nurse came in and got an IV going.
Another 2 hours later, the doctor came in to check up on me.

Later, when i started having that panic attack because i felt short of breath and another 45 minutes after that...a doctor came in and looked at me.

(doctor): "yea...she's having a panic attack. She's hyperventilating.

no shit.

(dad) : "is there anything you can give her to help her breath?"
(doctor) : "no. Some over the counter nasal sprays is all."

he walked out then, not even bothering to tell me to relax...not even getting me a nasal spray...which...if they can alleviate a patients discomfort even a little bit, why wouldn't they? Why can't they show a little more compassion? I guess they've seen it all, and nothing phases them anymore.

He prescribed me some pain killers and told me to go to the primary doctor tommrow. (another 30 bucks when my parents are paying $500 for the ER). The primary doctor later told me..."why didn't they just prescribe you antibiotics there?"

Idk, i'm sure they're really busy. doctors. but they seem to move so slowly....even talk slowly...
There was a guy (who was a douche, so i don't really care) who got a beer bottle jabbed into his eye. He was holding a towel and ice to his eye for two hours before a doctor even saw him. Nicole was also telling me about her grandpa who broke three ribs and was in severe pain...four hours before they got to him..

it just seems really messed up to me. It's unreal the amount of discomfort and pain the human body can take before passing out.

Anyhow, i'm fine. I'm feeling a lot better. Pain killers + antibiotics. Really shitty spring break though.
