Disclaimers: I don't own these boys RTD and Aunty Beeb do. I don't get paid for this but if they ever offered me a job I would move to Wales so fast my parents would think I'd been abducted by aliens...
Authors Notes: This was written for the
guns_n_poodles art and fic a thon and is a present for
sistercarrion . My prompts included "Angst/dark!fic/PWP" and "Blades/bloodplay, restraints, BDSM" so thats what I went for. I've not really gone this dark for a while and my slash bunny has been on summer holiday so I am a bit out of practice! And got a bit carried away, it went epic, 10,000 words plus. Yep, theres even plot but don't worry, I try to make it equal to the porn. ;) Hope you like it my dear!
Summary: What happened after John found Gray and how do you get Captain John Hart to do what you want?
It was almost an accident that he found him. A chance remark from a trader in a bar about an outpost being abandoned near the Bedlam outlands. There were a few life signs left but no one dared to go down or get close enough to investigate. He had bought the scan off the trader for the price of a drink but didn’t get a chance to look at it until he was already out of the time period and having a lot of fun with his latest mark. It was just a matter of getting his hands on her diamond and he would be set. It was whilst he was getting ready to make his move that he had a quick look at the scan and a low whistle escaped his lips. He recognised those readings. In their time together he had spent hours at times scanning for his old partner’s bio signs to get him out of whatever scrape they were in this time. It was more than enough for him to recognise the pattern straight away. It was distorted, it wasn’t him, but it was close. It was family. And it was alive. “Well hello there Gray.” He grinned and switched off the scan. He had a time and a place. And that information would be priceless. To just one person, but that was one person he was looking forwards to giving the details to. Along with a few other things...

It felt good to tease “Jack” (why did he always go back to that one? Change the surname all you like but he always favoured J names for some reason). That look of shock on his face, that feeling of pulling his world upside down... The look he knew had been on his own face when Jack walked back into that blasted lair of his again. Immortal. What kind of twisted universe did a thing like that?
It didn’t take him long to reach the outpost again. He arrived only a day after the scan was taken but it was already too late for most of those left to their fate. For a moment he thought he was too late for the only one he gave a damn about. But finally he found the pile. A stack of bodies, too hideous for most to contemplate. He’d seen worse. He knew better than to look but instead focused on the readings, following them to their source. It was only when he was sure he was close that he looked up. It was hard to distinguish the one living form in the pile. But finally he found him. The family resemblance was very faint in the wasted scrap of human but it was close enough. It only took a moment to break the chains that bound him in place and he easily scooped the battered figure up and left the rest of the damned to their grave.

It was almost three days before the youngster revived. The rustling of the simple white sheet over his battered body was what caught John’s attention first. It had been an easy enough, if time consuming, matter to fix the worst of his injuries but there were still bruises and scars all over his body that would take much longer to heal, if they ever would. As for the ones that couldn’t be seen... “Shhh.” He watched the moments panic in the boy’s eyes and couldn’t help comparing them to Jack’s. Lighter, so pale, almost no colour in them. None of that blue that he used to lose himself in. He wasn’t as innocently pretty as Jack either, he would never have been the poster boy that his big brother was. He would always have been the baby brother, always in Jack’s shadow. Poor kid. But if he hadn’t been taken Jack may never have joined the Time Agency, never have run so far and so fast away from home. Never have ended up with a crazy partner, never been stuck in a time loop, never have... He sighed as he realised he owed some of the best fun in his life to a kid who had never known any. “It’s ok. Just lie back, you’re safe now. I’ll take care of you.” The panic subsided quickly, almost the instant Gray realised there was no immediate threat.
“Safe?” John nodded in reply and sat down on the narrow bunk, leaning over to check the dosage on the feeding device. The kid had finally started to put on some weight over the last 24 hours, muscle stimulation building up wasted limbs until he was actually looking pretty normal now. Well, relatively speaking.
“Safe. As in no one is going to harm you here. Especially not as here is a little shithole of a place I like to call home. Well, in this century anyway. Welcome to the good ship Lucky Lady, currently crashed on a pretty little outpost in the Lotus Nebula, pleasure centre of the universe. The accommodation isn’t much but it’s secure and clean. Well...” he brushed a smear of dirt off of the equipment and pulled a face. “Mostly. Sorry. Guess this place could do with a woman’s touch. Still, once you’re better I’m sure we can find something on this rock to make you feel almost human again.” Gray slowly sat up, pulling back from John as he rested against the wall. The sheet was still tucked around his waist but he did not seem worried about modesty. Nor did he even notice the map of pain that was marked across his body, scars and bruises and grazes on nearly every inch. John handed him a pouch of water and watched closely as he sipped it. “You’re Gray, aren’t you.” Suspicion clouded those eyes for a moment and John smiled softly. “It’s ok. I’m an old friend of your brothers.” At the mention of family Gray leaned forward eagerly, his hand reaching out to grasp John’s arm tightly.
“My brother? He’s alive?” John nodded slowly and grinned as Gray released him, shock evident on his bruised face.
“And then some. He’s safe and well. You know, when we first met, you were all he talked about. He joined the Time Agency just so he would have access to their resources, thought he could find a way to track you down.” John reached out and stroked his fingertips along Gray’s cheek lightly. “Jack drove himself crazy trying to get over you.” Gray didn’t react to the touch but a light smile began to appear on his lips.
“Jack? Jack. He’s really alive? Where is he, is he here?” John pulled back and shook his head slowly, hesitating for a moment.
“He’s not here. But I can take you to him. Boy is he going to be surprised when we turn up. Not to mention his little team, they are going to flip when they see you. Knowing Gwen she’ll throw you a welcome home party then try to adopt you...” He didn’t see the change in those eyes, his attention diverted for a moment by a soft beep from the equipment, a reminder to change the drugs over. But there was a harder look on the young face that only appeared for a second, vanishing as he looked up again.
“Does he know I’m here yet?” John shook his head and grinned broadly as he fiddled with the machines controls, updating the settings and hitting the side of the machine as they talked.
“Not yet. I wanted to give you a chance to talk to him yourself, and now you’re finally awake we can go pay him a visit-”
“No. Not yet, please.” Gray grabbed his arm tight again, pleading softly. “I’m not ready.” John paused, taking in the fear on the bruised face and nodded quickly, not wanting him upset whilst he was still so weak. No point going through all this effort just to hand over a wreck. He placed a hand over Gray’s, rubbing over his fingers.
“Hey no problem. We can take our time, it’s not like he’s going anywhere. You get your strength back. Starting with some more sleep I think.” John smiled as Gray man shifted in the bunk and lay back down again, on his side this time. He let go of John’s arm and curled up, the sheets tucking around him as he shifted and John stood, leaving him in peace.
“Thank you.” John simply nodded as he walked away but stopped as he was called again. “Wait. What’s your name?” He smiled softly and looked over his shoulder at the kid.
“You can call me John. Captain John Hart.” Gray smiled softly as he lay down again, his eyes already closing as he surrendered to sleep again.
“Thank you. John.”
