on moving from a big city to a small city

Dec 20, 2005 08:38

dear J.W.K.,

I'm seriously considering moving from a big city to a small city. Problem is, I think I would badly miss all th big-city happenings. There is a lot going on here, after all. Lately, though, I have been thinking, if I do move to a city w/ not a lot going on, I will no longer know about all th things going on in th city where lots of things go on; therefore I will not miss them. What do you think.

Sincerely,
Lots Of Goings On

Dear LOGO,

But you will know, and if those things that are going on are things that you value, you will miss them, wherever you are.

To me, it's more important that each person clearly define for himself what it means to have a lot "going on." Say yr passion is surfing, and when you are surfing on very big waves, and sharing stories and adventures w/ other surfers, that is when yr life is most FULL. You're not going to choose NY or D.C. You will say, "There shore is a lot going on in California."

This is important. I think we are all able to define for ourselves, if we face up to it, what is important--no matter how many outside forces push on us, distract us, and try to make that decision for us. You can be anywhere in th whole world ...

Rabbits,
J.W.K.
