Deciding that I, as a single woman, have just as much "right" to a registry and shiny gifts as much as the next person, I have created a registry at Crate and Barrel.
It's listed under my real name. Ignore the date of the "housewarming" event. There is no housewarming, considering I've been in my apartment for more than two years and have no plans to move anytime soon.
There will eventually be similar registries at other places, depending on whether said places are non-discriminatory and allow non-wedding/baby people to create registries. I'm thinking of an Ikea one. That would be useful.
Edit: I have registries at C&B, Amazon (they required a wedding, so I said I was marrying myself), Pottery Barn and Pier 1. Ikea does not have such an option. I figure -- based on Quicken entries -- that I have spent close to $1,500 over the past three years celebrating other people's choices. (Note: Those people who are on my friends' list are people for whom I would willingly and happily celebrate choices.) It's perfectly fair for me to have a registry. I'm celebrating my choices.
