Once Upon a Fic 2017 Exchange
This spring I joined the Once Upon a Fic 2017 exchange. While the exchange was small it was a lot of fun and if you love fairy tales at all you should take a peek at the collection over at Archive Of Our Own.

ZeldaQueen weaves a deft retelling of the tale that takes the idea of fairies and their machinations from the Villeneuve and Beaumont novellas and uses them to great narrative effect. Each chapter drips with ambiance and the characters are well drawn. Beauty and the Beast as a chess match between dueling fairies, what more could you want?

It never occurred to me before that Carrollian madness and Seussian madness would be compatible, but Karrenia_Rune proves that they are very much at home with each other! This is a delightful little story in which the Cheshire cat recruits Bartholomew to make hats with the Mad Hatter. As expected with a Seuss meets Carroll story there is a lot of fun dialogue and language!

What I Wrote:
I originally matched with my recipient on another fandom, but one of their requests was for a fairytale called Silver Tree Gold Tree which I had never read before. After reading the story (which I highly recommend as it is a rare case of a canon MxFxF couple) I was inspired to write for that tale instead writing a backstory for the character of the Prince's Second Wife.
