[fic] [madoka magica] [children's lit] a brief catalog of witches

Jan 23, 2013 21:19

Still working on the Utena epic! But this came about late the other night in a haze of meta.

"A Brief Catalog of Witches in the Anglophone World from the mid-19th century to the mid-20th century"
Genre: Meta, so meta it ate itself
Rated: General Audiences
Fandoms: Madoka Magica & lots of children's lit (full tags on AO3)
Summary: The heroines of classic children's novels are reinterpreted as Madoka style witches. [See here for an example of Madoka canon's witch & familiar summaries]

Notes:
You don't need to know Madoka the series to read this, you only need know the main premise.
Witch names in the Madoka universe are usually Germanic and not identical to the original character name. I chose to use Germanic variants of character or creator names. When the German name was too similar to the Anglo name a Russian or Scandinavian variant was employed.

Feel free to add any suggestions here! :) If you want to InuCurry-style fanart up these witches up go right ahead, just let me know about them. <3 Also let me know if there are any characters that you can't match up. I can put up the list as a second chapter on AO3.

forelyse, I made sure to include Ramona Quimby for you!
