Gradually unwinding.

So this past week has been absolutely fantastic, what with the not having to work thing and the huge amount of social activities I lined up.

First there was the engagement party, which was a lot of fun, it was honestly so good to see so many old friends again and to be able to hang out and catch up with so many of them. Ashleigh painted a large board white and everyone drew/wrote on it, which was a pretty cool idea. Now as to where we're going to put the damn thing...

Anyway.

Monday was the Splash Planet trip with the work social club. It was fun, but it would have been a better day if the weather in Hastings had cooperated. There were only brief snatches of sun and the water was absolutely FREEZING. Which kinda ruined it a bit. Came home absolutely wiped out and crashed.

Tuesday was spent catching up on chores, cleaning the house, getting 4 loads of laundry done (cos the weather in Palmy was absolutely spectacular) and just general other bits and pieces like that. Which was great cos it gave me a sense of accomplishment.

Wednesday, oh my GOD it was good. Went into Wellington in the afternoon, hung out with Penny and Sherryn (and threatened to kidnap the latter cos she was so completely down from a long day of teaching and needed a pick-me-up). Went to dinner at La Casa Pasta with Penny, Sherryn and Rhi (it was NOM) and then headed out to Neko Case.

AND OH MY GOD IT WAS FANTASTIC!!

Seriously, the Bathhouse is such a fantastic venue and Rhi was doing an awesome job of mixing us interesting little cocktails, so by the time we got back to Penny's place, I was more than a little drunk. And then aside from an incident involving a stupid spider that didn't know when to quit, it was a really great night.

OH! I got my first Geocache too.

Then yesterday, Penny and I went to Floridita's for lunch (and so she could catch up with a friend who works there) and then cruised up Cuba St looking at shops. I indulged in a new rubber ducky for my bathtub and a slinky red cocktail dress that is very 20's (which Carl absolutely loved when I showed it to him).

Today I drove home in some god-awful weather and traffic and have spent a quiet afternoon reading my book and drinking tea.

So all in all it's been a very worthwhile week as all the stress that has been plaguing me is gone (for the time being at least). I seriously need to go on vacation a lot more often.

Now if you'll all excuse me, I think I'll go and christen Dr Hugo Quackensire III.

Take care everyone, stay cool.
