stop me if i'm wrong, stop me if i'm wrong...

It kinda makes me sad when I ask someone why they wanna vote for a particular candidate...be it who I'm for or not...and they don't have a good reason why. Ya know, if you ask somebody "Why are you voting for Kerry" and they reply "Well, I'm a strong believer in Roe vs. Wade, and under the Bush administration I feel that it is threatened. Also, John Ashcroft's low blow to attempt to get medical records upset me quite a bit." Okay, good answer. You have an issue you want secured, so you vote for who is gonna protect it. "Why are you voting for Bush?" "Well, I'm against homosexual marriage, and it has a better chance of passing with Kerry in office." Once again, ok, I may totally disagree with you, but at least you have a good reason that has obvious evidence to back it up...I mean, Dubya said he would fight it, and Kerry's home state is the only state with legal gay marriages...so yeah, the person who makes this arguement is making a correct observation.
What I hate is when people are just like "John Kerry? What the hell! He's a liberal. I ain't voting for him! My parents raised me a Christian, and my pastor says vote for Bush...yada yada yada." That shits no good, boy. No one gives a damn what your pastor thinks. Listening to someone, be it your mother, pastor, brother...whatever...is not a good reason to vote for someone.
I don't REAAALLY mean this, but sometimes I just wish that people who didn't bother to read a newspaper, watch the news, or look up the issues on the computer would just not vote. I mean, thats a rediculous thought, I know...I just get flustered when my grandmother totally ignores the fact that I have to take out a huge loan now to go to school due to George Bush's lack of education financing and says that "He's a good man." I say "Why?" and she spouts off some BS about Republicans upholding the Christian values of this nation. I proceed to tell her that freedom of religion doesn't mean "freedom of Christian denominations" and you can't run a country on the Bible...she stares at me like I'm nuts.

She's got a right to vote for whoever she wants, just as I do. May her vote and mine always weigh the same. It just saddens me that my education was put in jeopardy (long story...ask if you wanna know) thanks to his administration, but she ignores this fact because he's "A good Christian." Maybe if she did some reading, she'd see that it's partially his fault the trucking industry isn't doing as good. I understand that people vote on the party that is gonna benefit them most. But the people that whine about how their family business is going down the drain, then they vote for the guy who is hurting it...I just don't get it.

This is not a "Vote for Kerry" post. This post is me, asking you,to go to the polls on November 2nd with only one person's ideas and decisions in your head...your own. Don't vote how mommy votes. Surf the web, watch different news channels every day, check out the newspapers from other countries like the BBC or something. At 18+ you are smart enough to educate yourself on this election and make a decision you can live with for the next four years. Be an educated voter.
