This could only happen to me

I...I totally forgot about my own birthday. I mean, it's one thing to forget your best friend's birthday or even your mother's birthday, but your own? I mean, my work is stressful but it's not so bad that I forget things like that. I mean geez, next I'll be forgetting Yamato-kun and Mimi-kun's birthdays, and after that I'll probably forget my ( Read more... )

Happy birthday, Jou-san!

. . . I do not think you must worry quite that much yet.

You're right. What I should really worry about is my residency after next year!

Why must you worry about this . . . ?

(grins lightly) Mina, it's Jou. If he's not worried about his residency, he'll be worried about the next emergency that pops into his head!

Seriously Jou, don't go crazy about that yet. Help out where you can with the others, and try to enjoy whatever it was that Gomamon got you for your birthday.

Now, where are those leftover tacos Rosa said I could get...?

Jou-san is obviously very dedicated to his worries. (However, I think that I may understand them a little better now . . .) As you say, I hope he will take the time to enjoy himself as well. :)

Because right now I'm under the protective wing of my internship director. Protective being a relative term in my case. If I screw up, the hospital will take the blame.

For the residency, I get more of the responsibility and less of the help. So if I screw up, then it's more my fault.

And...I have screwed up a couple of times already. This isn't the kind of place where I can afford to make mistakes.

Mina frowns faintly into the screen. There is a difference between their work, isn't there? She's merely responsible for getting lines upon lines of code to function together, and if she makes a mistake, the only difficulty that forms is that the program will not work. If Jou makes a mistake . . . the consequences can be far greater.

Jou-san . . . what stressful work you must have. I must admire your fortitude. The medical jobs must be very stressful, I think; they would not allow us to easily make the mistakes that we as humans must make by our natures.

From what I know of you, however, I know that you will do your best.

Too sappy? She doesn't know . . . but she finds herself wanting to encourage him, to say something to try to allay that fear she thinks she hears in his words.

Jou finds himself taken somewhat aback. He has always expected encouragement from his friends, but to think that someone who's never met him seems to be trying so hard to encourage him makes him wonder about the connection the world's Chosen really have.

Thanks, Mina-san. I know we've never met, but that is encouraging, even though I still can't explain my memory loss.

Mina bears the Crest of Compassion, so there is that to add to the connection between the world's Chosen. She has never met him, no, there is that sense of duty by him, but also the fact of what she tends to hear in his posts. Normally she can't help the other Chosen much, but if she can find small ways . . .

We will blame it on you being busy. ;) If it is any consolation, occasionally I forget to eat if I am particularly busy.

To eat? Geez, at least mine's just inconvenient and a little unpleasant. That's not healthy! Your brain needs constant nourishment if you're busy, which is why I always find time to at least snack on something when things get busy over here.

I hope I don't sound like I'm lecturing, but I guess it's something that comes naturally to doctors when we have to deal with people who don't take care of their bodies all the time.

Mina giggles; she can't help it. Well, turnabout is fair play, she supposes . . . and he *is* a doctor.

Haaaaai, sensei! ;)

Please do not worry. Bakumon is very firm that I must eat as well. At those times that I missed a meal, he was asleep . . . and then was very surly when he awoke and discovered that I did not eat.

I do not mean to have it happen . . . unfortunately at times I become a little too focused.
