BUSY busy BUSY

Dec 13, 2007 20:33

I would have blogged more often, except I was out-of-my-mind busy. Well, not exactly, I was also zoning-out a lot but yeah, most of the time I was busy.

You see, one thing about working with the media is that you get so busy you practically have no life. So far I haven't gone out with any friends except for those working together with me in The Sun.

But, it also gives you something back because you get to do A LOT of stuff you wouldn't normally dream that you could do, like what I've been doing the past few weeks.

I've met a few celebrities so far, both local and international, like Kat DeLuna, Douglas Lim, Joanna Bessey, Indi Nadarajah etc. I've also got some free passes to stuff I would normally never have forked out money for, like Peter Pan the Musical, James Morrison and Rick Price's Live and Loud concert, Aladdin the Pantomime. (still haven't gone for that yet, it's happening next week!) I have also eaten at places I've never eaten at before like Uncle Chillies at PJ Hilton, Restaurant Seri Melayu (amazing malay food at super steep prices), Zouk, Big Apple restaurant at Times Square, Toh Yuen Restaurant at PJ Hilton etc etc etc, all for free!

But the best thing was (wow) the superb freebies you get. Memory sticks, blenders, tickets to stuff, cash vouchers, posters (!!!), food, pillows, cups, umbrellas. Almost every event you cover, you get a token of appreciation. Some are obviously more generous than others, but still, it's FREE STUFF! ANYTHING WILL DO!

Okay, maybe that isn't the best thing. (or what I should be focusing on, even. I'm such a materialist)

The best thing is you get to meet all these really really interesting people you don't normally get to fraternise with. (Well, I seem to be running with the wrong crowd hahahaha, maybe that's why) You get to meet all these super intelligent people who are super dedicated to their jobs, crazy people who are an intrigue in themselves, people who swear, people who go crazy when they see desserts, people with no shame who open their door gifts DURING the event, gay people (WHO I SO WANNA BEFRIEND), people who smoke 24/7, people who work from 9am to 1am, people who don't even need a sweater despite being in a 12 celsius air-conditioned room continuously for 10 hours...

There are just so many types of people you get to meet in the media.

ARGH! I don't wanna go back to uni! I wanna continue screwing around here till I get so good at the job they won't wanna let me go.

But of course, that's stupid.

(By the way, I'm STILL at the office and it's 9 bloody pm.  My ride (a very cute senior journalist called Anansa) WOULDN'T leave!!!!!!
