Frat City Roller Girls

In the center of the roller derby five women stand figuratively tall in short-shorts and t-shirt tops that ride up when they stretch their arms and let out intimidating grunts, whilst their appearances are less than so. One female in particular turns counterclockwise to the sound of scolding and cursing from voices a tad bit low pitched coming from the entrance of the derby. The girl's long orange hair falls in curls over her shoulders and she smiles, the rest of the team behind her follow suit and glance towards the two shorter figures, scrambling on their four-wheeled roller skates as if they hadn't used them before.
The shorter blond smiled shyly towards the group as they clung to the taller, silver haired female with a smaller bust who remained quiet and mysterious. "Sorry we're late." Followed by a shy, low toned "what he said" coming from the latter.
"Newbies." A stronger, masculine voice came from behind the group but anyone could see them considering they were tall, short brown hair dusting a long nose and pale cheeks. The red haired female nods and moves towards the two first, taking in their appearances and then locking eyes with them. "We're glad you could join us, your names?" The two are taken back by the kindness not only in her words but the soft gaze they receive as they inch closer, albeit still shy as before.
"M-My name is Lulu, and this is my friend Sehuna." The blond leads while pointing to herself and the female beside her who only looks straight ahead in a deadpan expression.
Minni, the red haired female puts her hand out and grabs Lulu's with a cold grip, aggressive rather that takes the shorter blond by surprise. "Great! Well, my name is Minni and that's.." Minni turns her head and smiles toward the awkward group behind her. "The one with brown hair is Kaia, and the other one is Tao, we call her peach. They're friendly so don't be too thrown off by their sharp appearance.. they don't bite, much." Minni exclaims with excitement as a bubble of laughter rips through her throat and she has to step back to catch herself. "This is going to be so fun!"
Lulu feels something warm spread through her when the grip tightens around her own but she doesn't retaliate when the latter with beautiful curls crushes his hand, he's too lost in her eyes to care. She feels her cheeks heat up and it's only when the grip is released that she realizes that her friend, Sehuna is jabbing into her side. "Dork." She hears the soft voice in her ear but it's anything but comforting.
The two are dragged towards the latter two who stare at them, sharp gazes that glare at them and take them in. Sehuna looks anywhere but up until the pressure of eyes on her make her look up in curiosity, so when she looks up and locks gazes with the cold eyes staring at her she freezes almost immediately, unsure if she should move.
"Nice to meet you," Sehuna speaks swiftly but she's only replied to with a roll of eyes and a gruff grunt through pink lips that somewhere in the back of Sehuna's mind, they are lips she wants to spend the day kissing.
"Time to practice before the team gets here, the tournament isn't until a few weeks away so we have to work quick if we want to win. You guys look like you've never skated before.. I can change that." The leader Minni winks towards the two but Lulu feels like she's the center of the world, swallowing the thickness in her throat that threatens to let her choke.
The other two tough looking girls are already further in the derby and skating in a circle, a circle that grows and by the minute passes it appears they're competing with each other to see who's quicker. They bump sides to which Minni yells at them, hands on her hips as she huffs, "Play nice for now! We don't want any bumps or bruises before the actual game. Don't go too all out, save your energy." The red head shouts, sighing as she turns to the two girls. "Just follow after me and I'll show you what to do."
Minni leads them to the center and first educates them to which they complain like a bunch of school boys, to which she scolds them and flicks them harshly on the forehead except in more of a loving mother way. Tao and Kaia watch from afar although their eyes are mostly on the two newbies who try and sit peacefully, aware of the glares sent their way. 'Fresh meat' their gazes tell them. Lulu is far too interested in a pair of hazel brown orbs that sparkle every time the leader speaks, she's not listening to what Minni says and she doesn't care. Sehuna is worried, fidgeting every moment because she feels like she's going to be attacked if she dares to move an inch. Her body is warm, something is weird and she doesn't know what so she tries to keep it together, tries to listen and be as emotionless as possible.
Forty five minutes in and Minni is guiding the two girls on how to to be a pivot, how to be the rammer and how to get around and all of the footwork. It's too much for the newbies not only because they're inexperienced, but because whenever Minni and Tao show them the whip, Lulu and Sehuna are far too distracted by the shorts that ride up when Minni bends over to balance her speed and Tao who bends down to fix her laces when they untie. They continue to fall due to their hormones, though the leader is the only one who doesn't catch onto the youthful acts of sensual gazing.
By the end of the night Sehuna and Lulu are good but not exceptionally fantastic but Minni promises that by the end of the two weeks they will be good enough to play and hopefully, Kaia speaks in and doubts bitterly, win. Lulu follows Minni around and Tao and Kaia continue to tease the youngest of them all, Sehuna, who shies away and tries to practice on skating, only to be teased by the other two females.
The group who used to be strangers are now closer than before, but it's far much more than friendship that tie them together. It's the competition, the feeling and rush of wanting to win so badly- that they stay up all night until midnight comes and they're curled up in the middle of the derby, cuddling close together when warmth and rest is their only want and need.
Tomorrow, they will work harder.
