back from the dead
Hi all.
How's the semester been for everyone? i'm asking cuz i really *blush* don't know HOW it has BEEN for most of u. :( Keeping in touch is not an effort... it's just that time really does go by; life just get's in the way. haha. FOr those of u study'n and cram'n and what not... well take solace in that ur ALMOST, NEARLY on holiday! :)
Well u'd think that since i've been done with my first year at uni for 3 weeks now that i'd get by act together and email and update pll. but --as seen thro my update'n of my lj--i've been a bit of a slacker. ***Steph, there's no need to read on, haha cuz i've just write'n u and told u pretty much allll bout this from here :)
Yeah right now, since i'm done with uni for at least 2.5months, i'm just work'n (still at Subway, in the city) and read'n and well watch'n far too much tv -and feeling absol. NO guilt about it haha. its great. yeah well other than that i've been still 'keeping up' with my journalism stuff. its a constant thing (i've realised) always have'n to read the paper and mags when i can and watch the news (every now and then) just to keep up on current events. It's become less of a chore, more of a necessary. so yeah i can't complain cuz its what i want to do so yeah *in the long term* its all good prep i guess.
What else can i write bout? oh I've had 2 articles published in a local mag (it's a monthly publication in North Brisbane) with a dist. of about 76,000 homes so that's awesome exposure for me. being a first year journo student its been REALLY hard just to get editors to look at ur stuff so yeah, i'm very fortunate to be in touch with one who does like my stuff and yeah i look fwd to work'n with her next year.
Other than that i guess just family life is 'what i've been up to' haha. just kick'n back with everyone (Chris, as in my bro, has been done with school, as in graduated from h/school for a couple of weeks now. Still amazes me haha. But yeah he's been GREAT, has done plenty of celebrating and is now wait'n for his results to arrive and of course begin his course/university selections etc.) and well we're constantly entertaining and stuff so there's always stuff to do... being the crazy season that it is!
But yeah i'm glad my first year of uni's over with :) *phew* i can say i survived with good grades and well there's always room for improvements but yeah right now i'm just kick'n back, relax'n sleeping LOTS and doing the fun things u don't have time for when uve got homework and assignments to think of (doing).
sooo what else have i been up to... (besides being slack at email'n pll?!)
Oh i can tell u all bout a concert i went to last night with a friend from uni, t'was a big Grinspoon concert with many other acts from round the country also performing. it was good stuff. But it was more than a rock concert -there were art installations, lounge'n areas, and visual art performances too. The theme was 'the beach' and there was, of course, big sandy areas as part of the visual art displays. so by the end of the night u could just kick back with some scotch and cola and not really care bout the sand granules in ur shoes.
