Last night was an adventure all around. I was trying to make dinner for the boys in anticipation of my going out for the evening. So I put a large pot of cabbage and potato soup on to simmer and went of to take care of something else. After a bit, Younger Son told me the soup smelled like it was burning and after some investigation, yes indeed, the whole bottom of the pot was burned black. There was tons of water in the pot and Grrrrr I don't know what went wrong, but I should be able to make potato cabbage soup in my sleep. My membership in the Hausfrau guild is now seriously under review!!!!
Oh well.... cabbage and potato is at least cheap and it isn't like I ruined filet mignon. The next step was to attempt to get rid of an entire giant pot of cabbage and potato soup. The easiest way of doing this is down the toilet. So pot in hand I went to the downstairs bathroom and slipped on the lake of water on the floor. I managed right myself and to put the pot of scorched and hot soup down on the counter and noticed that the toilet had overflowed. It has the tendency to clog if you put in anything much, so I watch the toilet when I flush it, but I guess I'm the only one who makes sure the toilet actually flushes.....
Younger Son brought the plunger.... Elder Son brought a huge armful of dirty towels. I am sometimes very happy that we go through towels like they are going out of style and we better use them FAST. I plunged and mopped and eventually got rid of the pot of soup making sure that the toilet flushed. Towels got washed and Husband Person was informed that he was taking the boys out to dinner while I took a shower and made my escape.
Now I'm extra paranoid whenever I flush either of the toilets in the house. Life is such an adventure....
