If you get too many s3p stuff then yes it can cause some lag just like anything else can. However I do not recommend switching things from s3p to package unless you know how something was created. For instance if patterns were made with TSR Workshop thingy then they end up causing extreme lag when you convert them to package files. I have had a couple bad experiences with s2p-package conversations in the past & am always wary of it now :/
But someone else may be more knowledgeable than I am, this is just from my own experience :/
I have about 300 things in s3p.. is that too much? :s I played without any CC (package or s3p) and then with and the lag seemed the same. I think any lag I had was from my EPs. And don't worry, I'd never switch from s3p to .package, I honestly hate .package files. I'd take s3p over them any day.
Oh god I am such opposite -I HATE HATE HATE s3p!!! They are so freaking annoying blehblehbleh. But lol ohmygod no 300 is like ... nothing. I think I have over 1000 patterns in s3p format -lolol! & like god I think nearly 14,000 s3ps in total. :P
Oh, also forgot to say that if you have Generations that could be causing your lag. My game was fine until I got this EP :/ Now it just lagslagslags all the time -& I have a really good gaming computer -booo @ EA.
Generations didn't cause any difference, thank god! I'd hate to uninstall, generations is officially my favorite EP <3 Late night lagged my game so much, it would crash after a few seconds. It's horrible. I had to uninstall it >.
I love them, cause with the little icons I can see what I'm removing from my game if I wanted to. Granted, it takes a few mintues to uninstalled/install, but so worth it if I know what I'm adding and removing from my game
And DAMN! I'm so picky on patterns LOL! How can you find that many you like?! So I have a while before it starts lagging awesome :D and it's so weird thinking that much CC even exists lol.
Ah, see that is one reason I don't like S3Ps. One is b/c the launcher is just stupid & annoying -I load my game directly from the .exe file & skip the launcher always! LOL! It is just so hard to scroll through -especially with how many S3Ps I have. & you can't just ~scroll b/c it will suddenly zoom and skip like dozens of things at one time! Not to mention even when you remove stuff it doesn't REALLY uninstall b/c there is that big DCBackup folder, so it's like things are in your game twice & you have to remove both to really get stuff out of your game. Which makes cleaning out your downloads just annoying -especially since you can't put S3Ps into folders, so it's just one big jumbled mess in the Downloads folder!
My package files are perfectly organized & if I don't like something I know just where to find it & delete it quickly with no muss or fuss! Package files rule :D
But lol I am such a pattern whore! I only use MySims3Blog to find downloads, so if you do a search with just the Pattern tag you get pages & pages of great
( ... )
Yeah, I hate when it skips -.- It just confuses me. And my things always disappear when I uninstall them :s how do you get rid of them? Delete the DCBackup folder? (sorry i'm honestly a noob as long as i've been playing >.<)
And It's like, Oh I hate those pair of pants.. but idk what they are in my package folders o_O And no matter how much I merge my package files, it just lags my game soo badly it's so painful -_- I'm soo impatient, I can't stand lag!
And I use http://sims3updates.net/ it's awesome :D so categorized. And my patterns take forever to load, and I'll download 100 patterns and only use 5 of them xD so I really only have 10 patterns, and I use them all all the time. And yeah, I hated downloading TSR Workshop I was like grrr better not fuck anything up!
Do you run dashboard with your package files before you merge them? Sometimes you can get a bad download & it needs to be cleaned out before you do any merging.
Also before I merge I always make sure what I'm merging will not cause any lag. Just by running the game with things I am about to merge in to make sure it's okay, then I get out & merge them if all runs right. I only merge sections of packages -like all makeup gets one file - hair (b/c i have over 600 package hair files) in 2 files, etcetc. Sometimes if a package file gets too jammed packed it will cause lag once merged.
But yeah, about S3P's -you have to delete the DCBackup to really get rid of things. S3P's just suck so hard, I try so hard to avoid them when I can! :(
