Casiotone, P:ano & T-t-tracy

Last night I was unable to lure anybody away from the Stephen Malkmus show to come to the Casiotone for the Painfully Alone show with me, but that's ok, it just means I play some sort of portable video games between sets and everybody wins. The venu was wicked ard to find, it was this artist run gallery called BLIM and it was on the 6th floor of this very nice apartment building. You had to buzz to get in. I've never been to a show where got to/had to do that. I was almost an hour late, but thankfully nothing ever starts on time, so I actually showed up about 5 minutes early.

This girl with a guitar (T-t-tracy) played a handful of silly songs like Mad Prowl Disease (getting drunk and going on the prowl) and such things. The thing was she was so nervous and couldn't play alf of her songs properly because she was laughing too much. It was very cute, but the already disgruntled people in the world probably would have been infuriated.

Next was P:ano. Their instruments are drums with brushes, a mandolin, an accordian and some sort of a big-ass sax (sorry I don't know my woodwinds very well). Their songs are cute and pretty and they are very cute and seem like they might be the nicest band ever. I really like seeing these guys a lot and they're kind of Vancouver's hot band right now so there seems to be plenty of opportunity for that.

After they were done about half the folks piled out as they didn't seem to be interested in the main event, Casiotone for the Painfully alone a.k.a. Owen. That kid is big! Dressed very indie rockerish with Chuck Taylor's, jeans and a Cardigan. And he is big. Like 6 foot something and that cute amount of overweight. He had a podium under which he stored his keyboards and the biggest mess of drum machines and effects things I've ever seen. He kind of had a strange old man/low voice thing going on when he was singing, which was very odd to me as he doesn't do this on record. I was very happy with everything as he played pretty much every one of my favorite songs of his and even did a song with P:iano.

Then it took me the better part of my life to get home. They were filming some car chase stuff along the main bus routes downtown so my bus never showed up where I had expected it. It took me at least an hour and a half to get home from the point when I walked outside from the show. Fortunately I am ready for these sorts of things and usually look forward to them as it tends to be an excuse to play some sort of handheld vids and listen to iPod.

Speaking og iPod, am I the only person who spends more time trying to figure out what songs to cut from my iPod to make more room for new music than I actually do listening to the music? I wonder if there might be some sort of support group? I really need that 80GB photo one that I am certain will be coming out for Christmas this year.

So after all of this, I went home to watch a very critical game 5 in the NBA finals. It was the most amazing game I can remember since the Portland blew a 17 point lead to the Lakers the year they beat the Pacers in the finals. I went to bed at 4:00 or so. I also bought my suit for the wedding at some point during the day. The guy who worked there and helped me was so awesome. If anybody ever needs to buy a suit and just happens to be in Vancouver, I have a guy for you!
