Originally uploaded by tracy_photoChris and I were catching up on the most recent episode of Life on Mars last night. It's set in 1972 and one of the characters got a Big Jim action figure as a birthday present. At first, I thought they changed the name of GI Joe to avoid license issues but no. Not only is there really a Big Jim but there's also Big Jeff, Big Josh and Big Jack. Not to mention Chief Tankua and Dr. Steel!
I can't believe I never saw these as a kid. I think the Village People probably took their costume cues from these guys ;)
