I thought I'd jot down a few notes from the last week or so before the next one hits.

A few recent movies of note. A history of violence moved up in the queue based on the recommendation of a friend. I was not disappointed. I've been a fan of Cronenberg for years. I had a little trouble getting into his last film, Spider. I always meant to give that one another try.

Thumbsucker was another in the genre of Donnie Darko and Chumscrubber of the troubled teen trying to find himself. Keanu Reeves is pretty funny as his hippie orthodontist who tries hypno-therapy.

Ran - Akira Kurosawa's rendition of King Lear set in feudal Japan. Fantastic.

Last Sunday I went with my mom to see Kinky Boots at the Landmark which was also fantastic. Great story. Zoe loved it too.

What I've been up to lately ...
Bellydancing has moved to Thursdays for a while. It's weird having Tuesdays free after so long. I think I'm going to like Thursday better.

Last Friday I went to a house-warming for paige_hanlon and Dary. Their place is gorgeous. Makes me want to get off my duff and move. Zoe's dad recently moved into a house that I love too. Of course these are rentals but it just gives me hope that there are houses to buy out there too.

During the party, some guy came to the door selling sticks of RAM to buy gas. It's a sad state of affairs when computer memory is less valuable than gasoline. lol

I hit Ascension afterward for the first time. Danced quite a bit and had a good time. Got home late, woke early with a phone call from mom. Zoe had singing practice at church at 9am. Ugh. Dropped Zoe with grandma, met R2 at the gym. Met Tina, Michelle, Kim and Mercedes for mother's day dinner at Mandarin House. Followed that with drinks at Livewire. We had a Swingers moment where we all stopped talking at the same time, turned around and left. lol I wanted to try Fashion Whore (which was closer to Sabbat) but was outvoted and we ended up at Beauty Bar. It was crowded. I didn't last long. Tina and I bailed out and went to Sabbat for some late dancing. Was worth the trip. We had a blast.

After party with sdtj and the ever lovely nici13. Turned into a pumpkin around 3:15am. Dropped T at home and went home to catch a few zzzs before church at 8am. Yay! Zoe's recital was adorable. She wrote a poem in French. I stayed for both first and second service since no one could read her poem. Then we met cybian and kambrieloktober for brunch at Karl Strauss. I've missed those kids. I'm so grateful that they live closer now!

Went home and slept off the champagne before meeting mefasola and t_t_tanya for Pizza Nova and Kinky Boots. T surprised mom with a digital camera/printer combo. She's always so good at the gifties. It was her idea but I offered to help. lol

This weekend is Vegas for a bachelorette party. Need to do some laundry and packing over the next couple nights. The following weekend is Potrero war. That just makes my head spin. I have so much to do before then. Zoe has no garb! She's outgrown everything since the last war. She's only a few inches shorter than me now. And one shoe size away. I think she's going to pass me soon. Hopefully not by too much!
