Ok, modern cinema is a total joke, right? Here is a list of movies that are coming out soon that might not suck.
Inland Empire - David Lynch is back and this time he didn't even bring a script to the filming!!! That's right. He wrote the scenes to this one right before he filmed it. Oh yeah, and he is experimenting with digital film this time! W00T! He recently released this clip that features some of the cast members:
http://www.poetv.com/video.php?vid=1981 Note: I do not know if this clip is actually in the movie or not. Word on the street says that he was just goofing around with digital film that day. I am totally seeing this on the day it comes out.
Plot Outline: Set in the inland valley outside of Los Angeles, David Lynch's new film is a mystery about a woman in trouble.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
The Fountain - Darren Aronofsky is back with his first movie since 'Requiem for a Dream'. He has a huge budget this time and WOLVERINE!! I seriously hope this movie has something to do with Wolverine since I haven't liked Hugh Jackman in anything else.
This is definitely another 'opening night' movie. I am a little scared since 'Pi' is only 'pretty good' and he didn't write 'Requiem', he had the power of Hubert Selby Jr. on that one.
Plot Outline: Spanning over one thousand years, and three parallel stories, The Fountain is a story of love, death, spirituality, and the fragility of our existence in this world.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Clerks 2 - Kevin Smith decided to take a break from making touchy-feely crap that, for some reason, Joe K still stands behind and decides to cash in on the movie that made him famous, Clerks! Randall and Dante are back and better than ever!
Unrated Trailer Plot Outline: A calamity at Dante and Randall's shops sends them looking for new horizons - but they ultimately settle at Mooby's, a fictional Disney-McDonald's-style fast-food empire.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Idiocracy - Mike Judge has finally wrote another movie! Hooray! Its only been seven years since 'Office Space'! Honestly, I have no idea why this guy didn't start crankin' out screenplays like every 6 months and cash in on the popularity of OS. Ah well, the story sounds interesting and anybody who has 'Beavis and Butthead' and 'King of the Hill' on their resume deserves my $8 when this film comes out.
Plot Outline: Private Joe Bowers, the definition of "average American", is selected by the Pentagon to be the guinea pig for a top-secret hibernation program, set 1,000 years in the future. He discovers a society so incredibly dumbed-down that he's easily the most intelligent person alive.

Well, there ya go. Those are the only 4 movies that I can see on the horizon that I can almost guarantee won't suck. If anybody is down for going to the movies with Angela and I, (uhh huhhhh, I am dragging her to all 4 of these) just let me know. The more the merrier.
