So, I've seen a couple of things this week (internet article, TV news, TV shows) that talked about fat people like they are some scourge or plague.
I'm a big dude. I know it. People who know me know it. I don't have any disillusions. That being said, fuck people who think like the above mentioned media. I am not a plague on society. I am not dumb, nor am I lazy. I am just like everyone else. I try to be as healthy as possible, I hold a decent paying job using a degree I worked my ass off to earn. Don't treat me and people like me as if we are some substandard part of society because of my weight. Fuck you, and everything you stand for.
I caught an episode of the Biggest Loser and saw another example of mainstream media destroying the self confidence of a young woman who "lost herself." She used to be "thin and happy" until her relationship went sour and she put on some extra pounds. Sure, losing weight is a good and healthy thing. However, the program made sure to make her feel like shit for being heavy, and make everyone watching feel like shit if they are heavy. Luckily they can shove health products down our throat until we start metaphorically binging and purging them, and they are rolling around in our money.
After watching one episode of the Biggest Loser I noticed that they flashed Cybex working equipment logo all over the place. Am I the only one the feels like I am watching a giant commercial for exercise equipment and diet plans?
Just sick of people perceiving fat as wrong. It's unhealthy, but it doesn't make me any less of a person.
