SAY IT AINT SO...DRQ...

So apparently young people in Detroit only get 1 station to listen to top40 music, and of the 2 stations (93.1 and 95.5) they let the better one go. Its been all the buzz at work and everywhere to day...as everyone wants to know what happened to 93.1 DRQ. Not to mention that most of my friends prefer 93.1 over 95.5 anyway, and thats the general vibe I overheard from people at work. Vern at work knows TicTac who works for 95.5 but used to work for 93.1 and he said he was gonna call TicTac when he gets off work (lol bc even tho Vern knows TicTac he still likes 93.1 better), but I found out that this guys Rich who I went to high school with, and used to intern at DRQ, called and found out that they were bought out. So alas, money talks...and this snippet from the newspaper this morning confirms it....

"ABC-owned WDRQ-FM (93.1) dropped its current hits format and most of its staff Friday to become "Doug-FM," a station playing a wide mix of rock and pop music with the motto "We play everything." Among the casualties: morning cohost Rachael Hunter, producers Steve Grunwald and Lisa Lisa, program director Alex Tear and music director Keith Curry. Morning host Jay Towers remains on staff but with no assignment, according to the trade Web site FMQB.com."
