They released their kiss and stood together for long moments. The silence around them began to build into a long, low, ambient sound. It came roaring from all sides, far off, but growing ever louder.
The horizon was burning. Buildings began to vaporize and crumble, a wave of undefinable heat saturating through man's work.
It was all racing toward its epicenter, one tower in the middle of everything.
“Did you do this for me?” She asked.
“All of this...” Edward said. “I burned it all away, for you.”
And as it rained earth and fire miles away, they felt one another and their own warmth one last time, blanketed deeply in the soft, distant sound of the world ending.
