Fifth Wheel Rant (Or: Why I'll Never Get to Baltimore)
So I'm sitting in my apartment after work hanging out with four of my closest friends after watching Family Guy and everyone almost immediately starts talking a trip to Baltimore that's being planned for Memorial Day weekend. It's a pretty big gaming event and something I'd very much like to go to. Unfortunately I can't go.
The easy reason is because I'm not sure I can spare the time off. The easy reason is pretty much me bullshitting myself though. Through no fault of their own I'm excluded from pretty much any event like this simply because I'm the only single one. None of us own a larger vehicle so anything more than 4 people means a second car is needed, especially for a road trip like this. That being the case, it only makes sense that the two couples go.
I could go on a long rant about the exclusionary nature of couples at this point but I'm feeling annoyed not bitter.
I guess I just wanted to put this down rather than keep it inside like I tend to do with a lot of things.
I have to add, though, that I was a bit sad when, rather then change the topic, they all just left once it was realized that I had no part in the conversation.
