Pink is my favorite color...

Alright, a while ago I was living in Kettering (suburb of Dayton, Ohio). I remember watching some music channel that actually played music (not MTV or VH1) and hearing this interesting voice/song called Family Portrait. I thought it was great. Lyrically it had substance, and original backing sound, and let's face it - Pink's cute. My girlfriend at the time and I got into a conversation about Pink's sound and agreed that it was a good thing, and then we got into a discourse about her looks. I made a mental note to buy a disc from her. Well, I think I have ADD (I mean just look at how many projects I have going on at once and you'll see that) and I forgot (plus I think The Streets video came on right after it and we both said "Yes, please."). Anyway, then I heard Don't Let Me Get Me, and reposted the mental note, which was subsequently pushed away (this is around 2003 [?], just so you know). Never thought about it again. That is until I was watching White Chicks (yes on purpose) and heard Trouble. It sounded like her but I wasn't sure, mental note reinserted, and disposed. Then last night I heard Trouble again on Miss. Congeniality 2 (more of an accident on this one) and finally got off my butt. I ran to my computer purused lyrics, videos, bios and whatnot. Today I went to the retailer and bought both M!ssundaztood and Try This, and I must say - good stuff.

I must say I was worried before because I was afraid it was going to be an Eminem thing. (Where I like a couple of songs I've heard but not enough to warrant the expense.) But no, I'm actually impressed and it's very hard to impress me.

And, in other news. Autodesk purchases Alias. For those that don't know Alias used to make a program called Maya. It was the "leading" 3D animation app for a couple of years. Now, for the comedy. Autodesk are the creators of programs such as CAD and AutoCAD which are engineering programs (3D). A little while ago they aquired Discreet who made 3D Studio Max. Subsequently, 3DS became Autodesk's 3D animation app. So, I wonder what they're going to do with Maya? Hmmmm....

And, in case you live in a bubble. Disney has aquired Pixar. We all know Disney. And, I hope you know Pixar (Toy Story, Monster's Inc., Nemo, Cars, etc.). Now in case you didn't know a while ago Disney used to distibute the Pixar movies. So, every time Pixar would release a movie Disney would release it (kind of like Kevin Smith and Miramax). About 2 years ago Pixar announced that they were going to break completely from Disney-this was a big deal. They still released The Incredibles and I think Cars (which was going to be the last). And, now yust like dat Disney owns Pixar. They better not mess with that recipe though.

And, if you missed it in December Adobe bought Macromedia ( see post).

Now let's recap the past two months in the life of - well - me (after all it's all about me). A multimedia company aquires another multimedia company - and doesn't give any idea of what they're going to do. An animation/movie house purchases an animation/movie house - and doesn't really say what they're going to do. A 3D application company purchases two 3D application companies - and doesn't say what they're going to do. And, Pink is good - that's about all I know for certain.
