A friend of mine forwarded me a story and I figured I'd pass it on to the world. It was about a guy who still went to see his wife with Alzheimer's every day even though she hadn't recognized him for 5 years. Someone asked him why he kept coming to see her when it wasn't doing his wife any good. He told the person "She doesn't know me, but I still know who she is." The story wrapped up with "True love is neither physical, nor romantic. True love is an acceptance of all that is, has been, will be, and will not be. The happiest people don’t necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the best of everything they have. Life isn’t about how to survive the storm, but how to enjoy in the rain."
BTW, I don't believe its necessarily a true story, probably anecdotal. And the last line isn't by the guy going to visit his wife, it was an observation by the author.
