Two posts in a few days must be some sort of recent record for me. Of course, the main reason is that I'm just generally busy, while a secondary reason is that it's easy enough to write quick notes about what I'm up to as mere "status updates" on
Facebook (and
MySpace, and
Twitter). Before these were issues, though, I was quite happy to spend time writing posts; indeed, I probably spent a larger fraction of my life keeping
my blog up to date than writing what would turn out to be
my master's thesis (perhaps one of several reasons why I had to leave grad school). I remember being called an exhibitionist once for keeping this blog, a label which surprised but didn't bother me. Still, I never thought anyone had any real reason for reading what I wrote, and in fact I was shocked when someone seemingly tried to impress me by claiming to have read everything.
Since
the show I've naturally had more readers, with automatic cross-posting to Facebook making distribution easier. However, it looks like I'll have to abandon this blog, at least for some time. It's not that I suddenly want to keep things private, nor is that I doubt I'll find time to write. Rather, what time I have to write won't be spent on this. Surprisingly, due to the clear and continued interest in what I'm up to, I've been approached by a small publishing company to write some sort of autobiography. Certainly the last few years have had enough drama to make for interesting reading, but I admit that it might be a struggle to make my earlier life seem as fascinating. On the other hand, to ensure that the material is fresh, they want the final chapter to cover the coming year or so with the restriction that I not cover it on my blog. Thus, although I'll still be writing about what I'm up to, you'll have to wait at least a year (probably more, since I'm sure there's a delay between submission and publication) to read about it. So rest assured that, even though I won't be posting here, my life will still (hopefully) be interesting.
