Alright, I'll admit it: I'm working on a Pokemon RPG. After having so much fun with the games, and playing D&D for so long, I figure it's time to combine the two and make a real, table-top version of Pokemon. I've been looking around online to see if I can find a good place to start, and there is NOTHING. It's all a bunch of little kids role-playing every battle.
"I use flamethrower!"
"Well, I dodge, and then counter with surf!"
"Oh, close, but I barely made it away! Take another flamethrower!"
That kind of bullshit. (There was also liberal "I'm walking down the road, and out jumps... Mew? I throw a Pokeball...and I catch him! He's level 100 and knows all the moves, by the way...")
So, I want to make a system that allows everything from the games, but also the TV show, too. For example, I want a trainer to be able to pull SOME bullshit, like "Bulbasaur, use Vine Whip to latch onto that branch and sqing us across this ravine!" I'm down with that.
But if there are any ideas, feel free to throw them at me. I plan on setting it in the first region, Kanto, and using the original 150, because they are the only real ones. So, give me some suggestions, please!
