Come to think of it, what was the real difference between Heaven and Hell? Maybe there wasn’t any difference; maybe they were exactly the same. Maybe everyone ended up in Heaven, no matter how meanly they’d lived their lives. That would’ve explained why Heaven seemed to be filled with jerks.
I get work done on Mindy and Milk from time to time, but I had to do some restructuring today. Well, I guess I didn't have to technically, but my style dictated it.
I wrote several chunks of new material on paper to add to Chapter 18's exposition-fest when the computer decided to cooperate, since that chapter is basically the vehicle I use to explain…well, a whole bunch of crap, nothing to spoil you on just yet. But that chapter was already pretty long by my standards, and the paper additions and some more pushed it over 8 pages (single-spaced, mind you) so I figured I should break it into two chapters. Deciding where to break it was the trickiest part and required some more rewriting, but I'm not dissatisfied with where I've stopped for the night.
With a new Chapter 19, then, I had to take a few moments to renumber the remainder. The project presently stands at 29 not-so-fluffy chapters. I don't know yet if I'll be adding more new chapters in the future, but I want to take this opportunity to remind myself that renumbering is not as much effort as my lazy ass is inclined to think. It would be a good thing anyway if I could add a lot more meat to this novel, since my fast-paced storytelling makes for a potentially too-short novel. Which would suck, because the economics of publishing it would be considered unfavourable. And that's not necessarily a nicer outcome than its getting rejected because my writing is shit, since too-short might be considered a form of writing incompetence as well. But I suppose I'll worry about that later.
So goes a rare report on something. I still work on Brandi's War - which I intend to fill out a lot more as I move forward with it - as well as the SLE and the roguelikes. Because, hey, what the hell.
