Project Milk: separating the climax; more work on the buildup.

More writing done tonight.

But earlier I was reviewing the climactic chapter I finished last night. I decided to separate a latter chunk to make a new chapter since it constitutes a new scene and, unlike so many chapter transitions, there's a clear break in events. In a way I distinguished between two climaxes: a plot climax for Milk's adventure, and a character climax for Mindy. That probably sounds more postmodern than it actually is, and in any case it's a bit simplistic, since Mindy's final development comes in the dénouement of the last two chapters. Anyway, the essence of it is that the new chapter is the third-last chapter, constituting the falling (literally) action of the plot.

Minutes ago, I finished up another chapter I started last year. This one stands one or two chapters before the climax. I'm leaning toward two right now, which would give room for some final buildup, although I'm not exactly sure what I would say in that chapter. I certainly won't bother if it's not useful. Anyway, I did solid cynical spade work in this chapter to fuck with people's minds a little more. Since it follows a chapter with a series of surreal vignettes, it might just strike the intracranial cacophony I'm seeking to evoke. Resolving the intense cynicism of this chapter may justify the next.

It's after 4 am again, but I'm feeling encouraged.
