Soulthieves: forest redefinitions and a new river; province change.

Dizzy Oaks was so named due to the great size of the forest that dominates this province and the dense foliage that almost casts the floor in darkness on the brightest days; traditions have held that one would readily grow lost upon entering. It has even been said that, surviving on pine nuts and the pecans of the hickory trees, it would be possible to live forever in the vast woodland encountering no intelligent life but playful faeries and animal spirits, losing more than one’s sense of direction.

Another bullshit session.

Dizzy Oaks is the new name of the province formerly called Frontier Woods. The rationale for the name is derived. Frontier Woods would've been named by the Highlander invaders as the distant reach of their fledgling kingdom. Dizzy Oaks plays more directly on the vastness of the forest, making it the final frontier for anybody who dared to approach it.

I changed the name because I bulked up the forest substantially tonight, along with Love's Forest across the river in Elf Country Province. They both immediately bound the Great River, and technically constitute a single forest in two spheres, so they would both be mixed (pine/broadleaf) forests with similar foraging possibilities and so on. I'm still thinking about how Elf Country and Dizzy Oaks may have interacted in the past for the background. I considered the Elven Kingdom having taken a County of the Dizzying Oaks as a vassal state, but that wouldn't particularly suit the Elf Country Folk who have never been that consumed by the lust for power. For now, what I have of Dizzy Oaks' new background is that it was completely unorganized and insular, with the respective communities perhaps trading with each other but otherwise remaining completely self-sufficient. That's easy to justify, since everyone else would've been afraid to enter the forest at all.

I also added a tributary for the Great River, named the Love's Tears River by the Elf Country Folk in accordance with their usual practice of naming everything after Valotia, in this case particularly referencing the lore about her forced breakup with Piu and how all bodies of water then came to be. The river originates amongst the high peaks of Southern Mountains Province, incorporating the previously drawn channel around Dragon Valley as rapids before falling back into Southern Mountains. It proceeds easily through the hills of Great Highlands Province and then winds through Love's Forest before converging with the Great River.

With the new and expanded features, the Great Plain that previously dominated the south of The Island is considerably less prominent. I may decide to define some more isolated northern portions particularly in Great Highlands Province as a separate grassland region.

More done. More to do. All totally important. Yeah.

One other thing I did was remake the province map for Westlands. I'm still thinking about a subplot involving Westlands Province and Three Sisters Province.
