busy weekend with the seestor!

Well, as you all read, Caitlin was in town for the weekend (left this morning) on her way to Seattle to spend 22 days in Olympic National Park leading a pack of high schoolers with one other person and an "intern"  Sounds like something just up her alley :)

Anywho,  she came in on Thursday night and we really didn't do much Thursday or Fridays (went discing on thurs, that's about it)  Saturday and Sunday OTOH were busy busy busy!!!

Saturday we went to Portland Rose Garden, holy crap!  I've never seen so many flippin' roses!  (Pictures!!!!!)  Then we went down to the Saturday Market (for the 3rd week in a row!) and then it was off to pick up Kate's coworker Lindsay (sp?) and head to a BBQ over at Jennifer's place.  A few other people showed up (Heather and Sarah).  Had some good eats and beers before heading off to the Hawthorne Theater to see a band who was aparantly called Endless Rage (Lindsay knew them and invited us to come)...well, we were late to see them but caught The Rain who were a bunch of kids but definitely had talent...the lead singer looked exactly like Tristan (my sis' ex) and she said he even had the same mannerisms.  The difference, this dude couldn't since or write lyrics.  The music was definitely better than I was expecting (mellow-alterna-pop) but aaarrrrggghhh...the lyrics!  We were supposed to go to some strip club, but didn't cause of what we did on sunday!

Sunday we packed up and went to Astoria.  Tons of traffic, but we did stop at the Sitka Spruce at Klootchy Creek, which was definitely cool.  Had lunch at Kate's parent's and headed to the beach.  Fucking cold!  Stayed there for a bit so Caitlin could play in the ocean (too cold for my tastes), and headed down to Tillamook to the cheese factory in hopes of seeing it in action (no dice).   But did get some cheese and ice cream before heading back to Portland (crazy crazy traffic) and home.  Here are some pictures from Sunday.

So yesterday was pretty cool too...hung around the apartment in 100+ degree heat wave that had been over Portland since Friday.   Ugh.  So after lunch with Kate, Caitlin and I head down to the Willamette river and break out her kayak. Some kayaking pictures!  Back home, take showers, then picked up Kate from work and headed downtown where we walked around for a while, but being a monday night and having only knowledge of the pearl district, places were either closed or too expensive...to the point where we just decided to head back home and stop at Denny's.  We all thought it was too damn hot out to keep walking around town not knowing where to go (or having the foresight to look up somewhere before we left).

Caitlin left this morning and I'm writing this now (gee go figure).  Busy rest of the week, if I do anything cool I'll post about it...but I never did get around to starting the office...so maybe that'll happen sometime in the near future :)

Later all!
