Chiaki is mostly a movie actress, she seldom appears on Television so she is not that popular in Japan.
"Japan is very much a TV-centered entertainment industry. So, when you talk about big stars in Japan, generally they are people who are on television. I work mostly in movies."

After the success of Battle Royale, Hollywood director Quentin Tarantino took her under his wing. He gave her the role of Go Go Yubari, one of the two newly-created characters for his brain child Kill Bill. He was inspired by Battle Royale which his friend Kinji Fukasaku directed so he created the characters for two of the girls in the movie.

The other one is Shibasaki Kou which the role Yuki Yubari, the younger sister of Go Go turned her twin sister, was given. Kou was unable to join them in the filming because of her busy schedule.

"I loved playing Go Go, because the character's so extreme. And she's pretty close to my real character. Especially the fact that she liked her sword and lots of accessories."

She is Tarantino's Japanese version of Uma Thurman.

Takako of Battle Royale and Go Go of Kill Bill Vol. 1 are both school girls. Her other roles in both Movies and television are also school girls. "I've been playing these schoolgirl roles in all my movies. Everytime I went to the set, it felt like I was going to school."

She once watched the movie "Seven" three times in one day.
