Salads: LOVE! I always have to have something sweet, savory, and crunchy in my salads. Usually my salads contain lettuce, artichokes, goat cheese, walnuts, carrots, cucumbers, red cabbage, chickpeas, green apple, a sprinkling of black pepper and a drizzle of rice vinegar. This week I've had salads with bits of roast lamb...mmm....
Bananas: I eat one nearly every morning. I eat it slowly, slicing and eating it bit-by-bit with a spoon. It's amazing how eating it this way can prolong the experiance without diluting it.
Apricots: So delicious, but so increadibly sweet that my mouth burns of sugar for an hour afterwards.
Fiber One and bran flakes: My absolute favorite cereal -- an organic multi-grain flake cereal sold at my local health food store -- is currently on backorder. This drives me crazy, as its replacement -- oat bran flakes from the same company -- is less crunchy and more sweet. Fiber One is nice but just not the same; I can taste the artificial sugar in it. I miss the Post "Great Grains" cereals, but they're too unbearably sweet for me now.
Spinach, fresh and frozen: Fresh I buy occasionally, for my salads. Frozen I heat up for a snack. I can't have it by itself--not tasty enough by itself--but the texture and taste really compliment other hot veggies. Also, good source of calcium, since my dairy intake is rather low these days.
Cherry tomatoes: I don't know how I'd live without oven-roasted herbed cherry tomatoes. They're so intensely flavorful it blows my mind, and they're wonderfully sweet without leaving my mouth with sugar burn.
Various frozen veggies (green beans, carrots, corns, onions, peas, etc): So cheap and easy to heat up. I eat it with freshly-ground pepper and worchestor sauce.
Eggplant and zucchini: Sauteed with rice vinegar, soy souace, and chinese five spice blend, this stuff is AMBROSIA. I could easily inhale a whole zucchini or eggplant with this preperation if I didn't restrain myself! Wonderful when mixed with other hot veggies.
Cauliflower: Irresistable roasted with herbs and brushed with dijon mustard...mmm...
Broccoli and asparagus: I love both steamed and dribbled with lemon juice. I once made the mistake of eating an entire head of steamed broccoli (because it's THAT good and because there was no one around I had to share with)...Never again! I felt bloated-full all evening...ugg...
Coffee: Black, unless it's the super-dark roast my dad likes, in which cakes I take a drop of milk. Never sugar. I must imbibe...something like 32 oz per day D=
Tea: Mostly herbal so as to not overdo it on the caffine.
Water: Duh.
Nuts: Mmmm toasted almonds! And walnuts! I eat very few, but they're super-filling.
