Ron Weasley set to packing both his and Harry's trunk so they would be on time for the departure of the Hogwarts Express heading back to London. Ron had volunteered to pack Harry’s truck for him so he’d have time to say goodbye to Hagrid before they headed home for the summer. As Ron picked up a pair of robes that Harry had worn the day before a book fell out of them, opening with an unceremonious thud on the floor. Ron looked down at it and picked it up. He was about to close it and put in the trunk when something caught his eye. It was obviously a journal of some sort, and he knew he shouldn't read it but he simply couldn't stop himself. So he sat down on Harry's bed and set to reading the page.

January 5, 1997

. . . and on top of all the work that Snape assigned us too! Hermione of course decided to lecture me about my problem with Ron instead of helping me. I simply don't know what to do anymore. I know I shouldn't love him, but I do. Every time I'm around him it's so hard not to just reach out and take his hand or caress his cheek. I still find it hard to say or even write, but I love him. I love Ron.

Ron let the journal fall to the floor once more as he sat there staring off into space. Harry loved him. His best friend was in love with him and he never once said anything about it. Ron couldn’t be more stunned. He had spent the last five years trying to cover up his own feelings for Harry; he’d never stop to consider that Harry might love him too

Ron knelt down to pick the journal up again and read the page once more. Hermione had known! Hermione was the one person that Ron had confided in about his feelings for Harry. How could she know about both of them and not ever told either of them! Ron closed the journal and ran his fingers over the dark, embossed leaf-print on the cover as a multitude of emotions flowed through him.

"Ron?" said a voice bringing the red headed boy back to reality.

Ron looked up to see Harry standing in the doorway. In a fumble Ron let the journal fall from his hands. Harry looked down at it and realized what it was. Ron's eyes locked with Harry's.

"Harry I didn't mean to! It fell open and it caught my..."

"How could you?! How could you read that?! You weren't supposed to read that!" Harry screamed before turning and making a mad dash out of the room.

Ron jumped off the bed and followed him, running down the steps that lead to the common room. Ron stopped when he saw Harry trip on the bottom stair, landing flat on his face as his glasses clattered across the floor. Before he could regain his footing Ron was by his side.

"Wait Harry. . . Please, wait a second," Ron said taking a hold of Harry's arm while at the same time picking up his glasses.

Harry wrenched his arm free from Ron's grasp and made another run for the portrait before tripping again in his haste. Ron was back on top of Harry using his larger build to hold Harry in place before he could make another run for it.

"Harry," he said softly, "I love you too."

Suddenly all the struggling stopped and Harry looked up at him, “What?”

Ron ran his hand gently across Harry’s cheek, “I love you Harry Potter, I always have. I was just too afraid to tell you.”

Harry stared up at Ron with a blank look on his face, “You love me?”

“That’s what I just told you, you dumb prat,” said Ron laughingly.

Ron lowered his head to kiss Harry tentatively on the lips. Harry held Ron against him fearing that if he let go that Ron may vanish or he may wake up from a dream, but Harry never woke up.

“Harry…Haaarrry….Harry! Ronikins can’t breathe! ,” said Ron said hoarsely trying to get air into his compressed lungs.

“Oh! Sorry Ron,” said Harry releasing the taller boy from his clutches.

Ron stood and helped Harry to his feet before the turned and headed back up to the dormitories. They made their way over to their trunks that still required packing. Aside from glances at one another and smiling the whole affair seemed to have never happened. When the last article was packed away into their respective trunks they both sat beside one another on the bed.

Harry reached over and gently took Ron’s hand in his, “It took us six years to get to this point, and now that we’re here where do we go now?”

“Anywhere you’d like,” said Ron as Harry lay back on the bed.

Ron gave a contented sigh and nuzzled into the crook of Harry’s neck, “I’ve waited so long to hold you like this. I can’t believe that it’s real…”

Suddenly from outside the castle both boys heard the whistle blow on the train telling them both that it was about to depart for London. Both the boys jumped up from the bed.

“Bloody hell the last thing we need to do is miss the train,” said Harry as he took his wand from his robes and cast reducing spells on both their trunks. They scurried down the stairs after stuffing their trunks into a pocket and dashed through the corridors and down the embankment to the train. They arrived just before the attendants closed the doors and were able to hop aboard. Making their way through the cars they finally spotted Hermione in one of the back compartments and made their way into it.

“Where have you two been?” asked Hermione looking up at them from the book she was reading.

“Oh, just figuring out some stuff about one another that you knew all the time, but didn’t bother to tell either of us,” said Harry pulling the taller Ron down on top of him and kissing him.

Hermione burst out laughing leaving Harry and Ron looking at one another as though she’d gone daft. When she finally looked up there were tears streaming down her face from laughing so hard.

“Both of you were so busy hiding from one another you never found one another, and I didn’t see that it was my responsibility to tell either of you. I knew that some day one of you would find out about the other and then you’d fall in love and be happy,” she said smiling at the two of them.

Harry and Ron just smiled at one another as they sat there cuddling as the countryside rolled by outside the window. Ron lay his head back on Harry’s shoulder and drifted off to sleep while Harry held him. Harry looked over at Hermione and smiled, “So Hermione, how long have you been keeping this secret from the both of us. I mean I told you during our third year.”

“Oh, it took Ron a bit longer. He came to me and burst into tears when you and Cederic disappeared during the final challenge in our year. He kept going on telling me that he had been in love with you since he met you and that you would hate him if you found out. When you came back I tried to get him to tell you, but he kept swearing that you would hate him. I didn’t feel it was my place to tell either of you about the other. I knew that eventually you would both find out and that you’d be together no matter what.”

Harry smiled at Hermione and kissed the sleeping Ron on the cheek and whispered, “I love you Ron.”

A shadow crossed over Harry’s face and his demeanor changed. Hermione saw this and perked up, “What’s wrong Harry?”

Harry sighed and looked down at Ron, “I just realized that he’s in more danger now. Now he’s not only my best friend, he’s my boyfriend which puts him on the top of Voldemort’s “How to Hurt Harry list”.

“Harry, I know that your life is anything but normal, but you can’t allow that to ruin every bit of happiness that comes your way. Both Ron and I have always been at the top of that list. It’s something we both have come to accept,” said Hermione reaching across the compartment and taking Harry’s hand in hers.

Harry smiled at his ginger haired friend across the way and squeezed her hand, “I love you Hermione more than you will ever know.”

“Why Harry, I thought you loved Ron…”she said mockingly.

“You know what I mean Hermione. I don’t know where I would be without either of you. You have saved me I don’t know how many times both from enemies as well as from myself.”

Hermione smiled at Harry, “Well what did you think friends were for?”

“I just wanted to tell you in case I never got the chance to do it again,” said Harry looking out the window.

Hermione nodded and returned her attention to the book she was reading. Harry looked down at the sleeping boy on his shoulder and ran his fingers through his red hair. Ron sighed and snuggled back into Harry. Harry leaned his head down on top of Ron’s and drifted off to sleep with his boyfriend.

“Anything off the trolley Dears?” said the witch as she pushed her cart past the compartment that housed Harry, Ron, and Hermione.

Harry having been jolted awake by a bump in the tracks looked over at the witch and realized that he hadn’t had anything to eat since breakfast that morning.

Harry looking over at a sleeping Hermione replied, “I’ll have a bottle of pumpkin juice and a roast beef sandwich please.”

Having paid for his sandwich Harry ate half of it while watching Ron sleep. He watched the eyes of his boyfriend open slightly and then smile at him.

“You’re staring at me,” said Ron groggily.

“You’re beautiful when you sleep you know that?” was the only reply Harry gave.

Sitting up Ron gave Harry and odd look before he spotted the half of a sandwich on Harry’s lap and listened to his stomach growl angrily. Harry smiled and handed Ron the other half of his sandwich and the remainder of his bottle of pumpkin juice.

“Thanks Harry,” he said before taking a bite from the sandwich.

“We’re coming up on the station now,” came Hermione’s voice from across the compartment. Both Harry and Ron jumped a bit as neither of them had noticed that she had woken up.

“I can’t wait to get home Harry! Everyone is going to be so glad to see you and Hermione, it’s been ages since both of you stayed with us at the Burrow,” Ron beamed taking Harry’s hand in his and giving him a quick kiss on the lips.

As the train came to a stop at the platform Harry and Ron stood together and began to make there way off the train behind Hermione. All the time the boys couldn’t stop smiling at one another. Life was perfect for both of them.
