...I have been posting fic, just not here. AO3's posting interface has just sort-of sucked me in. ^_ ( Read more... )

AO3 is my favorite posting interface too. (FFN is my least favorite. Be glad you don't actually post there, because it's just awful).

And good luck with your cross posting and your master lists! I know what a b**** that can be to do.

One could only assume you started posting on FFN because you didn't realize what a horrible, horrible place it was for posting because you had no point of reference and continued to do so because you're on the author alert list of 139 members and feel you owe it to those people to continue to put up the new stories you come up with, in spite of what a horrible, horrible place FFN is. Not that I'm speaking from experience or anything...

*blinks*

...Well, now, that is a really great and really horrible reason. Who are these people? I will happily give over AO3 invites and the like to help them transition!

Also, congrats on 139 author alerts! (*is slightly jealous, but also -glad- it's not me because that would be way too much pressure for me to handle myself ^_^ *)

Do you know that's actually part of the reason I made the transition to AO3? Someone left me a review recommending that I post over there instead of FFN.

Thanks! It's a bit easier to get them over on FFN than it is to get subscriptions on Ao3 (I have... 17? over there). There's just a lot more peeps.

:)

...Huh. Maybe it's the audience? I don't think FFN has as much hardcore porn as AO3 and other places, so it would make sense that they'd get a larger 'safer' crowd(?).

I think it's a combination of a) having been around for a long time (since 1998!), b) being nonfandom specific, and c) not needing an invite or to be on a waiting list to join.

*lol* That would do it!

(...I wonder if they're still using the same posting interface circa 1998. That might explain a few things ;)

I wouldn't be surprised. (Though they do have the option now of copying and pasting text into the document manager instead if having to upload a document from your computer, which is convenient when I have author's notes, since I don't save those into the document in Word).
