-i've finished reading a portrait of the artist as a young man
-reading while running at the gym works ok, but not great
-it was a pretty good book, though
-and i would've missed most of the shit even if i read sitting still

-i was a monk for halloween
-and went a bit overboard with consumption
-i think i need to grow up

-that's long overdue, for sure

-i've been working a lot lately and i like it
-more or less

-i mean, i'm getting paid to read, think, and talk to people
-it's kinda fucking sweet

-ithaca in general has been pretty nice
-seen some cool shows: matt and kim, dirty projectors, jimmy carl black and eugene chadborne

-i fucking love fall

-i miss having non-science friends
-i need to get some, asap
-art, music, etc. are good creative outlets and i need to make more time for them

-i mean, i like the people in the dep't a lot, for sure, but it's nice to have non-science friends

-i went to boston a few weekends ago to see josh, an old friend, and it was great
-it's a pretty cool city, and it's nice to stay in touch with old friends
-even though it's friggen hard sometimes

--i hope everyone is doing well
