the power of netflix has brought me back to my childhood.
ahh thanksgivings spent watching mst3k marathons.
i haven't seen this episode, however.
it's pretty solid thus far.
i forewent going to see yo la tengo this evening, mostly 'cause i'm a little sick and didn't want to stay out too late, but also 'cause i'm not super into them, and would have to either pay or fake being a student, neither of which i wanted to do.
especially since i'm going to do one of those this wednesday for lif.
that's right, mr. lif is gonna be here wednesday night.
considering the vast number of awesome bands [lightning bolt, grizzly bear, explosions in the sky, etc etc etc] that are coming not close enough to tallahassee when i won't even be here (more on that later), it's nice that someone as fucking awesome as lif will be here-here.
and i'll be in town!
no having to drive to atlanta or anything.
well done again, fsu.
of montreal will be here later this semester, too.
dance party 2k7 to be?
this weekend was pretty mild, which isn't too bad in retrospect, but while it's happening, i wish i actually were doing more things.
even if it's just hanging out with people.
friday night was a solid 'meh'.
after a few nice convos on the tele, i didn't really do much.
i mean, i watched the black keys dvd that rob got me for x-mas [note: not a bad concert at all, but they were better when we saw them].
but by myself.
[it would've been much, much better watching it with, say, rob]
and then fell asleep.
there had been a possibility of drinks in honor of eric giving the seminar, but i never got a call.
and roommates were gone.
bah to that.
saturday was better, as i actually did things with people in the evening.
dinner with mcnutt and amanda (although, yeah, im pretty unimpressed with the pizza here. it's not disgusting, but i miss home-ish 'za) and billiards with mcnutt.
neither of us can play pool very well, so it worked well.
i realized that i don't go out too much, but there are quite a few places around that i would like to check out more. except that drinking out costs more money.
and beer is 'spensive anyways.
most of the weekend days were spent doing some background research on grad schools so as to be prepped well for interviews.
working up a notebook of background info so as to be best prepared.
it looks like february is going to be a nomadic, crazy month.
i ended up getting asked to visit berkeley, as well, this week, so i've got 4 trips to make.
however, we're trying to work out a triangle flight pattern for ucsb and berkeley so as to prevent missing another day and a half flying across the country again.
i'm letting the profs take care of it all, but it looks like i will be able to spend a few days extra in the bay area to hang out with some friends which i haven't seen in >2 yrs.
woo!
hurray!
but yeah, so that puts me at a weekend in ithaca, a weekend in st. louis, and a week on the west coast.
16 total days gone, including missing 10 days of work.
that's a lot of traveling, but i'm looking forward to it.
[ok, in the movie they just said: when the planet saturn come into conjunction with mars and under the evil influence of uranus... ha!!]
it should be nice to go see some places of the country i've yet to be, or be in a while.
i've heard ithaca is pretty.
or something like that.
i also figured out today that i have enough business casual-esque clothing, if done in combinations, will get me through the interviews without having to wear one pair of pants, etc for a whole month.
although i might need some reinforcements from my parent's house.
i didn't really plant on having to get nicey that much when i came down here.
[wow, this is a fucking long sandstorm scene.]
{shit, nate actually cleaned up a little in the kitchen. not that anyone could notice. goddamn, i can't wait to not have to deal with his complete lack of concern and effort in maintaining a livable space.}
other than this, my week's been pretty much work and shit.
and this week'll be pretty similar.
except for the concert, of course.
and perhaps i will do hourly comic day.
although i have not the talents of a comic-maker, really at all.
so maybe not.
anyone else doing it?
maybe i'll try writing more...?
we shall see, we shall see.
