I am now officially living in Japan. When I lived on-base, it was like living in a little mini-America. Now, I live among the Japanese. I live in a Japanese neighborhood in a traditional Japanese house -- hell, even my furniture is Japanese. (Yes, that’s right. I bought or was given Japanese furniture for the place.)
You haven't lived until you've experienced a Japanese bath. In Japan, the shower and bath are separate. First, you take a shower, then you get into the tub to soak and relax. Japanese tubs are deep and stainless steel; they hold in the heat. So, you keep the door to the shower and bath facilities closed and sit in the tub. It's like a steam-room/hot tub combination. It is too cool. (And, I have it in my house.)
My toilet seat is heated...and it also has one of those butt-cleaners. After you "do your duty" on the toilet, you push a button and warm water shoots up and cleans your butt for you. It is neat. My butt is always clean now!
My cable modem will be going in sometime in the next week. Then, I'll be able to chat and write email from home instead of work. That's a good thing.
I wish you all a happy Thanksgiving.
