Before I forget (and I will), my name at Pottermore is DreamCrimson36. My tumblr is melcreada, but it's not set up by any means...
Yesterday was Saturday A Go-Go!!! I got up early, got mah hair did (chopped off quite a bit because blow drying has become an epic chore, for me anyway), met mom and Paul for "dos-aritas" at Martha's Mexican Restaurant (margarita machine was not working properly so they were EXTREMELY runny...meh, not impressed), and then hoofed it home so JP and I could do some shopping (needed that like I need a hole in the head).
Finally got home, freshened up, and went to see Crazy, Stupid, Love (why is there a comma after Stupid? Is Crazy Stupid not defining Love?). It was actually a really good movie - I love Steve Carell and Ryan Gosling and they were both fantastic! I wasn't sure where they were going sometimes, but that's what made it so interesting. And the little byplay between the couples was great...the silliness, the banter, the knowing someone better than you know yourself...all those split second intimate moments just made the film for me. Go see it, you will love it!
I took a nap this afternoon and had a lu-lu of a dream.
So the setting is the beginning of a sort of Apocolypse. There was a series of major earthquakes around the world, killing millions, breaking up supply lines, and basically putting human civilization up shit creek. There was no law, no government, so people started banding together to survive. I was living with my surviving family members and several other people in a run-down, plantation-style house. People came and went but the core of us would forage for food and weapons and go exploring to see if there were others out there. There was no particular story line, just vignettes like:
- David and I walking across a dilapidated, broken down bridge that spanned the length of San Francisco (the city actually sank several hundred feet due to the quakes). I kept looking over the side and could see things like Coit Tower, the hills, dilapidated skyscrapers, and the rolling fog banks far beneath our feet. At one point the bridge began to tremble and sway and David and I had to run for our lives.
- There was a Korean couple living in the house and the woman would have visions, sometimes specific to people and sometimes just in general. She could tell when another tremor was coming or if there was danger approaching. She gave me a warning about JP that factored into another scene later on.
- A Sylvester Stallone-as-Rambo character lived with us and he assembled a group of ex-military men who acted as our protection. They would come and go in the dark of night and in the morning we would often have supplies and food that would mysteriously appear from their rucksacks. Once, they rescued a guy who lived with us because another group had gotten a hold of him and wanted to lynch him. It was both nice and scary having these guys around because they basically did whatever they wanted and no one could stop them.
- The main scene I remember from the dream is that JP told me an ex-girlfriend had sent him a message to meet him in the little town a few miles down the road. It wasn't a good place - it was mostly populated by thieves and desperate people, but he wanted to go and see her and maybe bring her back to the house. The Korean lady had warned me not to let him go, but there was no stopping him. He left and I was filled with dread, knowing something was going to happen. By evening, he still hadn't returned, so I asked the Rambo guy to take me into town. We searched and searched and finally found him in a small cantina, alone. He wouldn't discuss what happened but when we got back to the house, I knew he was leaving to go after her.
And that's when I woke up, fit to be tied! LOL! There was more to the dream but unfortunately, that's all I can remember...
