Day 24 → Whatever tickles your fancy
So, I know I don't mention it much, but I am a bit of a Sherlock Holmes fangirl. Not a good one - I only read the stories once, as a little girl and only because my dad asked me to. But I have loved the character and almost all the adaptations I've seen: the silly, the teenage fantasy, the definitive. So when the new shoot-em-up "now with cage fighting!" version came along, I was interested but definitely prepared to be disappointed.
Well! Was I ever wrong! I loved Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes. He is a warmer, more human character (still brilliant, but a total mess). And his Watson! I love his characterization as Watson, Man of Action! He kept pace with Holmes and took care of him and whether you read hoyay! into their relationship or not, there bond is absolutely wonderful. They play off each other and bicker and the give and take just works so well. So, in conclusion: great movie, can't wait to see it again, I think I may be slightly in love with Guy Ritchie's version of the Holmes/Watson dynamic. Oh, and also: they are very pretty to look at. Hubba, hubba.
